He's available for next season and I think we should pull out all the stops to sign him. I spoke about this on a number of previous occasions and I think he's an ideal fit for what Russell Martin wants. He's a ball-playing CB who's so versatile he can also play well at WB or midfield. Think of the options that gives us when Martin wants to change things during a game. Although still a young player he has solid experience at international level and his ability could only improve the squad. We have enough players in the squad who, if we are being honest, are just making up the numbers. They do a decent enough job but we are needing a lot more than decent if we are looking for a realistic push for promotion next season. It's a no-brainer for me.

I am not sure we can compete with Norwich for his signature. They can offer him much better wages and sign-on-fee.

No brainer. Who currently owns his registration?
Chelsea....... and we have good history with them of doing right by their players who have been successful with us. Also, interesting to note that Spurs will let Rodon go at the end of the season. I don't know whether on a transfer or a loan but, if the latter, it would make sense for him to come to us particularly if we show the credentials to become promotion contenders. If Spurs are just interested in a loan deal then I'm sure they'd prefer him to play for a footballing team.

That's true but if it's a loan a signing-on fee wouldn't apply. That leaves his wages and we can but hope that our owners might see some sense and invest in those to give us a good chance of promotion when they'd reap far greater rewards. Forlorn hope I know but it's what I would do in their situation.
