I'm with @The Blobster, Coventry were pressing us very hard for nearly the whole second half and we kept our cool and as Alan Curtis said our game management for the last ten minutes was sublime. For the last five minutes we hardly let them have the ball. No @CroJack, this was the case of us coming up against a side that plays the same kind of game we do (and might even be better at it some of the time) but who we didn't allow to overcome us. And our first fifteen minutes were high energy and sublime. Well done for those three points!Poor performance by the Swans. Disorganised, disjointed, and too sloppy in possession. I didn't like it at all. Too many players were passengers today. If they think the possession football without effort will win them games, then they are terribly wrong.
That's exactly what I don't want to hear. I want to hear these words from the opposition manager, players and fans.Thought we defended well but Coventry put us under the cosh a lot.
It's what I said several times during the thread - so I agree with you.but we didn't play well and we shouldn't have won this game. I hate to say it but Coventry are a better team than the Swans, and they will be the better team as long as they play with more energy and passion than we do.
Don't like the fact that we're letting them get some momentum.
We need to inject some tempo into our game second half else we'll blow the win or worse. Coventry definitely got on top and were calling the shots because they got sharper and we fell away.
For much of the game I felt we were on the back foot but fair play to the lads they hung in there for 3 points against a good team. However, let's not paper over the cracks because there was a lot wrong with our game and we never got near to Coventry in terms of intensity, I'm sure it will come but we are still very much a work in progress. Some stats:To be honest I'm seeing Coventry more than matching us at our own game and doing it a damned sight quicker. I'm not happy right now: we need a goal.
For longer periods than I was happy with, Yankee, that was us. Sure, we had some great spells and we looked really good but so did they and we had to do our share of chasing. Nothing wrong with that because we did it well and won the game but other teams play good football as well, usually at a quicker tempo overall. I'm sure we'll up our intensity though as the season wears on.and their players are the ones chasing it and shuttling back and fore but not getting a sniff.
As Brendan Rodgers once said " when we have the ball we are resting, they are the ones doing all the running."@ivoralljack … I guess that Coventry fan must have blinked when Laird skinned their defenders for the second goal, which was a breakout from box to box. We may look slow when the ball is doing all the work and their players are the ones chasing it and shuttling back and fore but not getting a sniff.
Fair comment. We'll need all our energy to get something down there. Good to see a close rival in Blackburn getting a good hammering at home from Fulham. They are 0-4 down (great for our goal diff) and playing with 10 men. Every little helps.I was too harsh on the lads. We were two goals up early in the game and then it was the matter of saving some energy for the Burnemouth game.
And a little more jam on the bread, Scum are 1 down to QPR at 80 minutes.Fair comment. We'll need all our energy to get something down there.
