Connor Robert & Jake Bidwell 1st Half pass map against Atalanta

I've made this pass map because I wanted to see the difference between our two full-backs in passing patterns. Both length and direction of the passes is included in the pass map.

The difference is obvious. Whilst Bidwell vary his passing between short, safe passes and long forward passes, most of the Roberts' passes are medium length ones. We can also see that Roberts is more active and adventurous going forward which can be explained by Dyer's willingness to participate in link-up play. On the other side of the pitch McKay doesn't show much interest in linking-up with Bidwell.

Purple: shots
Yellow: accurate passes
Red: inaccurate passes
Conclusion:

Both full backs were solid against Atalanta and I must admit I was positively surprised with our defensive organisation. When we lost the ball in the opposition half and our full-backs were caught out of position they both run quickly back to preserve defensive shape.

Bidwell also showed he can steal the ball, tackle, foul and run forward with the ball when needed. He adds some much needed physicality to our back four, though he is not as good as Roberts imho.

Didn't Connor have a couple of shots way off target? I love what Connor does, he hustles to create at times. It's painful when the play slows down and they allow the defense to get in formation. He's got to work on his shot. Love watching him with the National team too.
