Good to read the differing opinions on here and even better to see than we can argue our points without resorting to disrespect. :D Great to read your optimistic views @Victoria Swan which firmly reminds me of @Rainbow from our time on another forum. She was the ULTIMATE optimist about the Swans and would tolerate no criticism, no matter how justified, of her team as she put it. :) She particularly had a go at me if I'd had a go at the team and would fire a withering text at me for daring to do so! If that didn't do the trick, she'd phone me and let me have both barrels!! Such a shame that the conduct of our owners drove her away from supporting the club because we could do with more of her kind. But she is a lady with firm convictions and high principles, which I can only respect her for.
Remember it well Ivor, :D.

We must also remember that we had our own youngsters out on loan. McBurnie, Grimes, etc.

Brewster, Gallagher and Guahi know that they are being closely watched by their parent clubs, and they know if they do well the door will be open for them at Liverpool and Chelsea. This is not necessarily a 6 months loan agreement. Look at Marko Grujic from Liverpool who is developing well in Germany at Hertha Berlin. He's been there for two years now.

As you say Crojack, we now have a few more pieces to our jigsaw, but that question still remains, does Cooper know where to fit them, which pieces will he disregard to accommodate the
It's simple. Brewster and Gallagher will play. We need pace up front and steel, creativity and goals from midfield. I'm not sure about Guehi, though I've heard he can play as full-back, hopefully left-back.

We need to adress left-back and left-wing positions. I don't think Celina is the right solution on the left flank. I'd rather play Peterson there.

Anyway, we are now close to have a more harmonious first XI.

And what about 3 at the back?

Something like this?

Have some faith, lads. Cooper, understandably, might have felt a little overwhelmed in his first job coaching seasoned adult professionals. He knows the 3 youngsters coming in and they know him having achieved the ultimate success at their level. This familiarity might help them all settle and impart some confidence amongst them. Still have this feeling that we'll 'do' Wigan and it might be the catalyst for a good run. Good luck to all. :)

Very true Ivor, We've got a new player in each area of the pitch so every player is going to have to pull up their socks and prove they deserve to be in that squad come matchday. Gallagher is a fantastic signing in my opinion and will be a fan favourite very very quickly. Brewster and Guehi are good signings but I'm more reserved in their impact. Brewster all depends on the service he gets and Guehi is cover in my opinion but with Rodon nearing fitness and with Wilmot, Cabango and VdH all capable I don't see him being super vital unless injuries surface. He's still a good option and if his presence keeps Bidwell out of the squad then that's a good thing.

With all three knowing and seemingly very fond of Cooper that alone could really bring a lift to the entire squad, something much needed at this stage of the season. If it all goes well we could very well be shooting up the table and making a push for the playoffs. The 3rd and final promotion spot via playoffs is very viable. Hell with the way Leeds have been playing lately, another collapse on their end isn't out of question.

Getting back to Cooper, as posters will know, I've been far from impressed with him thus far. Some of the basic mistakes he's been making have quite honestly astounded me. But I do want to make one thing very clear - I really, really, want him to succeed and not just because the club will obviously benefit from that. Even if we miss the play-offs, I'll keep the faith PROVIDING I see a noticeable improvement in performance levels and basic skills, both at playing and coaching levels that will stand us in good stead for next season. Steve Cooper seems to me to be a very decent guy and I'm old fashioned enough to want the good guys to succeed. I hope he does.

Everybody wants him to succeed. We all wanted BoBo to succeed ... even Monk for that matter although admittedly that required a level of magnanimity I struggled to conjure up. However, Cooper's a new dog that apparently is not that quick at learning new tricks. Frankly, after watching the bench the last few games, I'd rather see the white haired guy or Tate be the head coach, at least they demonstrate some passion and there's no need to rap them on the forehead to see if anybody is home.

Let's presume that the new kids meld together wonderfully and infuse enthusiasm into the rest of the squad ... that would be wonderful to behold, and would certainly be more exciting to watch ... but what does that tell us. Is that because of the inherent talent and class of these kids and the rest of the squad or because Andy Pandy suddenly feels comfortable enough to step out of his closet and bring his A game. Do we play well because of Andy Pandy or in-spite of him. I don't know how we tell ... unless perhaps he does something animated to a match official, gets banished to the stands for a few games and assistants take over.

I am really looking forward to seeing tomorrow's line-up. I presume that the majority of them start and the rest are on the bench. If Fulton drops out I would be disappointed for him, and not happy to see Cobango demoted to the bench either. Let's see what we get.
