The media ask 'Are Burnley getting a bargain'. The answer is no. It's just that our big nosed donkey paid twice his value to Hull.

It was always going to be a tall task to recoup the ridiculous fee we paid for him. That being said, £8 mil is too low. I’d think we could at least get £10 with add ons to 11 or 12.
That would probably apply if we were still a Premiership club, Now we have a Premiership club buying a C/ship player. they hold all the cards.

Every day that passes throws up yet more evidence of his ignorance and incompetence. The very mention of his name makes me want to vomit.

Doing the accounting analysis: if we paid £15 million (so I have heard recently) to Hull and had the player on a 3 year contract then we booked £5 amortization (i.e. non-cash cost) on the fee last fiscal year. Book value currently at £10. If Burnley pay us £8 then we're £2 in the hole. This excludes anything we paid and owe agents et al. If we made a profit last season then the amortization would have saved us some tax (@19%) of around £950k, which would cut the loss on the player's trading (in/out) to just over £1 million.

Question: when factoring in his payroll cost (whatever that is), given the "value" Clucas can deliver on the field, are we better taking the £1 hit on the net trade, dump his payroll cost, and apply the £8 to acquire a player of better production value with potentially lower payroll.

I think this is the calculus for this transaction .... but of course, if we don't replace with equivalent or better value then we have £8 in the bank and a capital loss of £1 on the books. Money in the bank doesn't kick a ball ... so the acquisition of the replacement determines the final +/-.

Good analysis, YJ for getting us out of the hole. What we need is to take the spade away from whoever is digging said holes!

I think we're all aware who the grave digger is BTG. But what's beyond every ones comprehension is why is he allowed to keep doing it. The very fact that he openly admits he is the reason for our relegation. Stupidly sacks probably the best manager we ever had, and replaced him with the worst. Literally cost the club £M's and £M's in bad manager and player selections, sells the club down the river for his own financial gains, and has the audacity to sit in the stands and watch it all happening. It's hard to believe any company on this planet could withstand such losses from a chairman and still keep him in in his present position.

Clucas reported to be on his way to Burnley for a medical which should result in an £8 million transfer fee. This clears the way for a £6 million deal for Ryan Woods to take place. If Woods signs this is great for us but would have liked to see a couple of million more for Clucas.

Sounds like the Ayew deal is totally off and Leeds swooped in to get Nmecha. And to think, the week started off so promising.
