I think this comes from coaching patterns again. They seem to be on autopilot, following some script instead of reacting to unfolding events. They should be "taking what the defense gives", instead of running a pre-programmed sequence regardless of whether it is working.I also find it amusing that our players don't understand that if you are alone and surrounded by six opponents on one side of the pitch, they must be in a deficit on the other side. A quick switch of play would give you an overload and an opportunity to strike at the opposite side of the pitch.
