A little money spent wisely can do a lot. An abundance of money spent foolishly will accomplish nothing except its own loss.

Leon left. Curt is still hovering around. And, we then have the illustrious Andy Pandy.

I wonder what the discount was and how much ownership he received. I guess we'll know when the filings are made at Companies House.

Still ... there's a sucker born every minute ... thankfully some of them grow up to have money.

Kaplan says they put more money in but this is never a good thing right?
It's not a good thing .... they could be putting money in and diluting their ownership to avoid a total financial collapse ... in other words self-preservation.

It's a good thing ... we're still going to be around. Leaner, meaner, perhaps weaker on the field ... how many U23 can be realistically expect to mature into bona fide top level players. If you think of what we've blooded out of our academy the last three seasons then the only part of the Club that has had any form of performance and success has been the academy .... and we let Toshack and his sidekick go!

Couldn't find any coverage of this in WOL this morning . Either ignoring us as usual or journos took a day off. But it might be good news for us as they don't like printing positive things about us.

The question here is the definition of "investment".

Did the new guy buy equity from existing owners and therefore no cash injected into the business. One or more existing owners in the owning investment group just grabbed some cash and ran.

Or ...

Did the new guy receive new equity out of club treasury or some structured debt/equity deal and therefore there should be new cash injected into the business.

Filings at Companies House may reveal what happened. Since the new guy is on the board of directors there should be a filing on this.

Without new cash injection it's meaningless to the club as a business entity ... just another person from America that thinks he knows something about football, has play money, and wants to play.

Serious investors that are buying into the football industry are trying to create entities like City Group ... e.g. Kapital Football GGroup US investor eyes Premier League club to kickstart CFG-style portfolio

Swans Trust Statement
Trust Statement 8/8/20

Dear.....

The Trust notes the Club statement released yesterday evening regarding potential investment in our football club, and the appointment of Jake Silverstein as a director of our club. The Trust look forward to meeting with him and discussing all things Swansea City.
Last week, our Supporter Director attended a club board meeting, at which the sole topic related to the prospect of a specific amount of funds being made available to the club. While the club statement refers to investment, we should note that the proposal referred to a loan to the football club, which could potentially be converted into shares at a future date, at the discretion of Mr Silverstein. This conversion option will also apply to monies introduced by any of the current shareholders.
The Trust would like to put on record that we were not consulted on yesterday’s public statement and we had not been informed by the majority owners that any agreement had been reached. Our most recent information was that discussions were still being continued. It is disappointing that it seems an agreement has been finalised without any discussion with our representatives.
From the Trust’s perspective, we have repeatedly noted the financial challenges the club is likely to face in the coming months. Investment into the club would be beneficial. However, what would be equally beneficial would be meaningful engagement between the respective shareholding groups – engagement before director appointments are made, engagement before public statements are made and, critically, engagement to resolve the legal issues that exist between our respective groups.
The Swans Trust exists to represent the interests of our members and the Swans fans overall. One of our key aims is to secure our football club for future generations, so we cannot be against genuine investment in our football club. However, we cannot accept any act that seeks to devalue the stake that Swans fans have in our football club.
With that in mind, we have initiated contact with the majority owners so we can discuss this issue, and the other issues between us, with the aim of finding a solution that works in the interests of the club and the fans overall.

Looks like a governance failure yet again ... or at best a major disrespect. There are multiple business entities involved - the Club is not simple, single business entity, and it all depends on which board of directors the new person is being admitted to. If it's the board of the entity in which the Trust has ownership then WTF.

Exactly, when they say investment we think that it's going to the transfer budget. These owners just took on a needless loan. The whole reason this guy is loaning money to the club is so he can make a profit one way or another. He's not an investor give me a break.

Laughed when I heard it was another American.

Given our track record of developing talent .... wouldn't the kid be better served working with Tate et al in the U23 and playing against other U23 high quality talent. Or perhaps even breaking through into the Championship.

On the other hand .... Cullen is going to be starting for us in the Championship alongside Ayew .... currently no other choice unless Peterson takes on a new role or Routs is played there. So the kid should have a natural berth in our U23 at the very least.
