Sod that debacle against QPR. We'd have had a decent shout with 3 more points and the 4 goal hiding didn't help our goal difference either!

Not just QPR Ivor, our away form in general was terrible. other than our last, any other away win as you say, would have put us in with a decent shout,

I'd give some allowance for the brutal schedule of the last few weeks. Getting up with energy and a full ninety minutes of action every few days must be hard, particularly for the youngsters that comprise our team. Having said that, yes, QPR was a disaster that could/should have been different and if our luck had been better against Nott Forest and ina couple of other games and the refereeing decisions didn't suck we would now be pushing into the playoffs. However, that would be with a team that is not yet ready for prime time. Another season in the Championship is what we need and Potter knows it too with his long-term plan for the team. In Potter we trust!

Good post @Victoria Swan but, as inexperienced as our youngsters might be, I'd prefer us to go up this season. If we were to gain an extremely unlikely promotion, some of the youngsters such as Dan James, might be far more inclined to stay with us and the owners would be hard put to justify selling them on. And I believe that this team with the CAREFUL addition of a sprinking of quality, experienced pros, could hold their own at the top level. The game against Citeh gave us a glimpse of that. I also believe that our players are far happier playing against decent footballing sides than the routine cloggers who inhabit most of the Championship places.

If there was a GUARANTEE that our best young talent wouldn't be flogged to give investors a return on their cash then, yes, I think that the squad we have now is good enough to mount a serious promotion challenge next season. This season has given them invaluable experience and I would like to think that many of the mistakes that have been made this season whilst the team has been gelling and learning, would not be repeated in the next campaign. All academic though because I very much doubt that we will be promoted and equally doubt that our best players won't be sold.

I would have liked us to go up this season, you gain Premiership experience in the Prem. not in the Championship, and this young squad are quick learners.
