It’s looking grim. On the bright side we seem to have the raw material in the squad and 46 games to avoid relegation. If we get the right person in by the end of August we will go into the international break and possibly by the end of Sept, Oct at the latest, we have something that punches above the weight required to get promoted.
Soton is the barometer that will tell us how bad a storm we are heading into. Last season we were embarrassed and played off the park. We looked like a Sunday pub team turning out after a bender the night before. This told us everything we needed to know about Andy Pandy and is capabilities ... total shit.
This time around, at least the squad and Tate have some rebuttal presumption of innocence as lambs heading into the slaughter house. Anything better than last season's outcome, providing Soton come to play, will deserve a pat on the back and can be considered a positive.
I have seen some bright and encouraging moments from the young players. But frankly. the seniors as a whole have been fucking dire considering the opposition. Any of Toshack's U-23 squads could have produced these results with aplomb. For example, against the Greenies, WTF was Lati doing on that play where he got himself red carded with the last man foul in the penalty box.
