Just how childish can Cardiff City FC get..

Cardiff City have lodged complaints to Swansea, The FA and even the police over Paterson's swim away . Even their own supporters say its embarrassing it is that they can't take a little banter.
The times we had to put up with that stupid head slapping even by their board members, and to the extent of the idiots having seating arranged representing it.
Childishness hardly describes it..

We are Swansea. We play football as it should be played … it is a calling. We have a heritage of producing the county’s top players. We have been respected and recognized by the very best in world football … the term Swanselona was coined by foreign commentators and bestowed upon us. We are striving to recapture that legacy refashioned for the contemporary game. It is a calling.

Once upon a time, when the Club struggled in the lower leagues, we played Cardiff only in the Welsh Cup and there was clearly an arrogant disregard, disrespect and ridicule for Swansea … the city, the club, the fans … it was palpable, it was never hidden. Swansea was once, back then, a county borough that was elevated to city status. We as a city, as a people, as football fans, have never held others in such contempt ... the Wrexhams, the Newports ... never. We have always respected.

Now that we are and have been for sometime, clearly, the premier club in Wales, we don’t forget the insult. We win because we expect to win, losing is not an option, at any age level, in any competition, any time, any where. We are superior, and we stamp our superiority on the style of football, on the game and on the result.

Paterson is a bit too much of a showman for my liking. I’d rather he let his boots do the talking.
Correct me if I’m wrong, I can’t remember any player, or manager for that matter, doing the swimaway in public.
For the fans now it’s just a bit of banter. But for the Club to be associated?

Tend to agree with this but didn't Russell Martin do the same? I think this is best left to the fans and the club should show they're above such things - beating them should be enough. I think the fans are entitled to gloat though. Cardiff fans shout it from the rooftops when they come out on top; not that they've had much to shout about recently. They've had an historic arrogance about them from the year dot - Capital city, bigger population, larger ground etc etc and they never lose an opportunity to ram that down our throats. But am I missing something here? Just what the fcuk has any of that to do with who has the better football team? Anyone with half a brain cell knows that that is us and has been for a long, long time.

I remember this clearly.

And even worse:

"After their 2006 success in the Football League Trophy at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, Swansea players Lee Trundle and Alan Tate carried a Wales flag daubed with ‘F*** off Cardiff’. Fans’ hero Trundle also wore
a t-shirt depicting a Swansea supporter urinating on a Cardiff shirt."

I agree the players and managers shouldn't be doing the swim-away gestures.

On the other hand this is what the Swansea fans should be doing at every Swans v Cardiff game. FC Copenhagen have a tradition where every fan has to take at least one inflatable beach toy (swim ring, ride-on, float, lounger etc.) with him/her for the last game of the season. I never miss that because it's a great fun and it's what football should be - a joy and party.

What do they do with all of those floats after the match? I would collect all of them and sell them back to the fans after every match. 😅

This is a great comment, must be tough for Cardiff supporters losing 9 of the last 10, getting blasted by your biggest rivals and the owner still hasn't sacked the manager in charge of it all. Not that I have any sympathy for them mind.

Players should probably avoid any hooligan references but it happened almost 40 years ago it's become a celebration more than a call for hooliganism. McBurnie has definitely tweeted the 🏊 icon before.

But what if we arranged seating to represent 'Swim Away' as they've done with their head slapping, obviously sanctioned from the top. It too is used as a wind up to opposing fans. there has been cases of scum players performing it to visiting supporters on scoring.
All a bit one sided imo.
