We are Swansea. We play football as it should be played … it is a calling. We have a heritage of producing the county’s top players. We have been respected and recognized by the very best in world football … the term Swanselona was coined by foreign commentators and bestowed upon us. We are striving to recapture that legacy refashioned for the contemporary game. It is a calling.
Once upon a time, when the Club struggled in the lower leagues, we played Cardiff only in the Welsh Cup and there was clearly an arrogant disregard, disrespect and ridicule for Swansea … the city, the club, the fans … it was palpable, it was never hidden. Swansea was once, back then, a county borough that was elevated to city status. We as a city, as a people, as football fans, have never held others in such contempt ... the Wrexhams, the Newports ... never. We have always respected.
Now that we are and have been for sometime, clearly, the premier club in Wales, we don’t forget the insult. We win because we expect to win, losing is not an option, at any age level, in any competition, any time, any where. We are superior, and we stamp our superiority on the style of football, on the game and on the result.
