Potter needs to stop tinkering ,, play his strongest 11 in a system that suits them and concentrate on our game play rather than trying to nullify the opposition.
Been reading many comments online saying the same thing and it's something I also agree with. I'm getting concerned that Potts is becoming an habitual tinkerman and some of his team selections bother me too. I'm baffled that McKay is still being picked when we have the likes of Dyer, Routs and even Dhanda who could slot in there. I can only assume that McKay is wowing everyone in training but he's certainly not doing it in matchplay.
I appreciate that part of Potter's DNA is his ability to switch gameplans and tactics to suit the situation but there's also a lot to be said for selecting a settled team and allowing them the chance to learn each others' games and gel as a unit. When we get it right, we look as good, if not better, than any other team in the Championship but we look so disjointed and lightweight when we don't.
I have faith in Potts but already we are getting to the stage where we need some Ws on our record: firstly to keep in touch with the top 6 and secondly, perhaps more importantly, to avoid getting sucked into a scrap at the bottom. Blackburn isn't exactly a 'must win' game but we sure as Hell don't want to lose it. One thing is certain - we desperately NEED a clinical finisher. Oli is a great trier with bags of potential but we need an experienced instinctive striker to start putting away the chances we are creating. Even if Bony returns, he's been out for so long he'll need a few games to get up to speed, so the options Pott's has got right now are limited. But whatever he chooses to go with had better start producing some results quickly or we'll be flirting with relegation again.
