Swansea v Hull

Today we've seen one of the disadvantages of the possession football. Your opponents park the bus, and it's difficult to break them down.

Looks like Martins style of play has followed him from MKDons. Live in the opponents half but no goals.

Yesterday even with 80+ minutes I was still thinking that we must score, that Hull were on their knees, and surely Wilf Bony Mk ll will get a goal.
It didn’t happen, just like it often didn’t happen for MK.
Unfortunately Championship teams don’t seem to tire that much and can easily get back to their box before we arrive with the ball.
You know what I miss? Those long diagonals from vdH and Grimes for our wingers to run onto, and the lobs for our striker to do the same. But I’d settle for quicker passing.

Did Paterson contribute much?
None of our players contributed much in terms of creativity in the final third. I could mention Laird when it comes to attacking intent, but his crosses were not so good. Hull parked the bus and sometimes even the best teams in the world are not able to break down such rigid defences.

1. We played much better in the first half. We had 11 shots to Hull's 0.
2. We deserved at least one penalty.
3. We didn't make any sloppy passes, which is a huge improvement.
4. Our passing accuracy was 90+%, which is superb.

Here is what we have to improve:

1. More lobbed passes (agree with @Behindthegoal )
2. More high crosses and more accurate crosses
3. More low crosses behind opposition defence
4. More through balls
5. Stop playing ping-pong bacward passes in attacking areas, and instead turn around with the ball and attack opposition box
6. Shoot more

Witb other words, we have to be better at creating chaos in the opposition box.

So in summary: Hamer had almost nothing to do, so no judgement vis a vis Benda makes sense. A new look midfield with Downes as the anchor supported by Naughton between the two CBs. Ntchem was effective. Laird was effecive. We put good shots on goal but not enough. We need to cross more.

And ... nothing much as changed in the referee bias department. We were denied a drop dead penalty on Laird and an indirect free-kick inside the box Paterson?
