Watched the goals on Sky Sport with Max who is visiting with me right now for a couple of days. After I picked him up in Swansea we popped in for him to say hello to LadyGG and family and grab a coffee. Have to say from listening to the game and watching the goal clips we already look a different proposition to what we offered last season. It remains to be seen how successful we'll be this season but I'm really liking what I'm seeing right now.

After everything seemed to click so much better last night, I wonder what Martin will carry over to Saturday or modify his plans for Saturday in terms of starting players and their roles.

Piröe comes into some good shooting positions. Unlucky not to score a hat-trick.
Dhanda looks like a totally different player.
Lati as a wing-back? Why not? Scored a great headed goal and shows a willingness to attack the far post. We already know he is an excellent passer.
Whittaker is improving with every game played.
Grimes should stay with us.
Benda should be careful with passing the ball to the players who are under pressure.
Big Ben is just Big Ben.
We have to remember that we still have Roberts, Manning, Lowe, Fulton, Paterson etc.

I would prefer Manning or Bennett. But sometimes you need to throw the young guys into the fire.
What do you think of this run of play? Nearly 2 chances for Reading to take the ball and score. Other defenders in the Championship would make us pay for this I believe. Once Benda passes it though it was the kind of thing we rarely see. I want more of this.

We looked miles apart from even last Saturday. It was a younger Reading side but I'm a believer once again let's go. Connor is coming back too. We will miss Guehi but we have more than enough to maintain our defensive standing. Something forming an attack now. New and motivated players. Should be a fun season.

Benda can ping a pass like no other. He will get some assists this season.
Take a look at the end of the extended highlights after Cabango makes that great slide tackle - Bidwell (typically as fit as fit can be) can be seen bent over double exhausted - this is what we need to see ... players busting a gut all game and leaving it all out on the field ... and delivering nothing but quality in the process.

And Cabango's tackle was at the end of the match when we were already up 3 nil. It wasn't crucial but he's got the heart of a champion.

It's great build-up from the back. We trapped the Reading players into the high press and then booom. But the first Benda's pass is not good. Too risky.
