Watching the video, Ayew was inches away from denying us that goal. There was nothing he could do with ball if he had made contact other than deflect it away from Surridge.
I wasn't going to take the rose coloured glasses off. I saw that too, Ayew was looking for it, and Roberts put it in the right spot. If Ayew got a hold of that probably not a goal.

All that said, I share your rose tinted specs, Surridge made the magic move, that turned a highly speculative cross into a game winner.

On a slightly different topic, we have three #9s, and no consistent #10. Celina blows hot and cold and his inconsistency is annoying. Dhanda is too green. Byers appears not to be preferred there. Rogers turned Steven Dobbie into a useful #10. Is this something Borja could do. He would certainly be looking to get into the box as often as possible ... does he have the engine for it.

I'd say yes. His work rate is excellent and, being an honest player who badly wants to succeed, he'd definitely have the appetite.

So does Cooper have the vision and chops to do this.

Separately, the news from the Club yesterday on Dyer’s 1 month old explains his absence for a while a month back.

What's wrong with Ayew as our #10? He certainly has the engine, his wanderlust can be creatively directed in that position, and he seems to thrive on assists as much as on scoring goals. Then we can switch between Surridge and Baston as striker.

discipline .... little to none, which is why his “exuberance” is best suited to a #9
