A true Jack now and, from the comments from other players following his appearance on the 'bye bye' list last week, clearly a very postive influence in the dressing room and role model for all those younger players. I've come to hold him in high regard this season - always did admire his technical skill.

Do you know what he did in October 2018? He told the club hierarchy to remove the clause with bonuses for a certain number of appearances from his contract. Potter was told not to play Routledge in the beginning of the season to save the money. Routs wanted to play and said f*** the money.

Routs is a player that will respond to a good manager, when Laaudrup arrived Routs was just another name in the squad, Laudrup brought him in from the cold, personally coached him and made him the player he is today, as Routs said "He didn't just tell you what to do, he showed you, something I will always be grateful for."

Yes, he was just a drifter before he found Swansea and Laudrup. When you’ve found what you’re looking for you fight tooth and nail to keep it. That’s a fight I hope he wins.

Good on you Trevor Birch (and, from the sounds of it, Leon Britton) for doing the right thing and not only giving Routs a new contract but hinting at an ongoing role after his playing days. And good on you Routs for demonstrating commitment to us and taking what sounds like less money than he could have got elsewhere in order to keep himself and his family in SA1.

Showed is versatility by playing as a #9 with excellent touch and hold-up play against much bigger defenders. He still has sufficient turn of speed to cause them problems. In the Championship an exciting player to watch and a force to be reckoned with.
