Wales Rugby #1?

Amazing to think that if Oz beat the Blacks on Saturday this will elevate Wales to World #1. :) Mind you, if England then beat us on Sunday, not only would we slip back to 2nd but it would be 3rd as Ireland would go above us if, as is likely, they beat Italy on the weekend. Still, if Oz do the almost impossible and win, this would make us #1 for at least a day!! :D

Well Oz did the business and positively hammered the Blacks 47-26. It's been years since anyone did that to them and was enough to see Wales become top ranked team in the world. HOWEVER, we do need to beat England to seal the deal and put some gloss on it.

One worrying thought. Oz are in our World Cup group and we don't want any repetition of that sort of form against us!!

Just had the vomit-inducing experience of watching the Wales Grand Slam team get absolutely hammered by a mostly experimental England team. World #1? Someone was having a laugh surely. On the evidence of today, Wales would be hard put to be #1 in Women's rugby!! I mean, some of those larger, mean females would take some stopping.

Wales just did a long training camp in Switzerland but from what I saw today very little of it could have been rugby related. Perhaps they were learning how to yodel? Or maybe learning how to make cuckoo clocks!! But I saw precious little rugby, strength or fitness skills on show from them today.

England mullered them so badly in the scrums you would swear that they were pushing against a box of marshmallows let alone a set of so-called highly trained athletes. Our kicking game was also an absolute joke. Time after time the ball was kicked down the throats of the dangerous England strike runners who were able to field the ball in so much space, there was scarcely a red jersey to be seen as they ran the ball straight back at us to create even more pressure. Pathetic.

Then there was that try that we conceded just before half time, which even now I find difficult to believe. We had got right back into the game but, just before the HT whistle, England forced a lineout near our try line but it was OUR throw. So what happened? This!!! Wales threw long to the back of the line where everyone missed the ball apart from the England player who collected it unopposed to flop over the line for a 7 pointer. You couldn't make it up! I don't play rugby, never have, but even I know that you NEVER, NEVER, EVER throw long in that position to prevent what happened from happening. Are we thick beyond words, or what?

So there we have it. No #1 position because we were comprehensively battered by a patched up, experimental team. Good job, Boys. But at least we have the opportunity to put things right next week at The Principality. Can only hope that the bunch of Billy Bigbollocks who shamed Welsh rugby today will show up, play as men and play some rugby.

Have to add that it didn't help when Dan Biggar missed a simple conversion at a time when the extra points would have given us a fillip. Seriously, I've seen schoolboys routinely slot those. That entire performance today screamed UNPROFESSIONAL!! I'll bet that Gatland and Edwards are spitting blood and feathers after this. That's after they've finished bouncing off the walls!! I'll be interested to see how Wales perform next weekend. They owe us BIG time after that debacle.
