Been cutting back on shopping lately because of lack of freezer space but I popped up the Co-op this morming for ciggies and a newspaper and took a quick look at the markdowns. Came out with this lot:

3 x 2 pack breaded haddock fillets
2 x Irresistible* dry cured smoked bacon * their top of the range.
1 x Irresistible N'Duja & Tuscan salami family pizza on sourdough base.
3 x garlic flatbreads
Salt & chipotle pork loin steaks - family pack
3 x 2 pack smoked salmon fillets
2 x Irresistible bags Lilly mashing potatoes 2.5 kg
Roasting sweet potatoes 1.5 kg

Usual retail was £50.89 and I paid £12.56 saving £38.33p. Nice! :) I also bought a bag of cold meat off cuts/end of joint from the Deli containing slices of ham, corned beef, chicken breast, lunch tongue and topside beef, about 1+ lb in weight. I bought it for Hector's treats but ALL the meat in the bag is well fit for human consumption and totally fresh. It would have cost a fiver at usual prices but I paid 20p.

Not a bargain but inexpensive and very tasty, is the mini Roule cheese in Aldi. Different flavours but I really like the black pepper and paprika variety. All at 79p down from 99p.

Getting fuel from the Co-op today and spotted some crisps on the counter, well in date but marked down. They are Walkers Max STRONG Wasabi flavour extra hot. Says on the packet that they're perfect with beer and they are! Anyway, they retail at 89p per bag and were selling for 10p each. I grabbed the lot!! :) In store, I picked up an Irresistible fish pie (serving 2) for a quid instead of £4.00. Gonna be pretty brassed off when the store closes in November. :(

Seriously hats off to the staff at singleton hospital. The food is actually edible and plenty of it! People complain about the NHS but all I can say is thank you!!
They don’t always get it right, but it never hits the headlines when they do - sadly. Glad to hear they’re feeding you up - off to Morriston tomorrow? Good luck with that I’m sure we will all be thinking of you - I would visit but my (flu) germs are really not for anyone but my nearest and dearest lol xxx

@ivoralljack has just visited me, he passed on your best wishes, for which I thank you .
If you have the flu you are probably feeling far worse than I do!!! Get well soon. I will be transferred to Morriston when they have room for me... Could be 2 days could be 11 days. I will have to sit and enjoy the view for a while longer!!!

HOW IT USED TO BE. I can barely remember rationing as a very young boy but these pics show how grateful we should all be in this day and age.

I remember that 1956 petrol shortage well, I had just started my apprenticeship in Fletchers Garage (behind the old Empire Theatre). Egyptian President Nasser ordered the sinking of ships in the Suez Canal as some sort of blockade in their war with Israel. This in turn forced the UK bound oil tankers to take the long journey around the Cape, causing a huge delay in UK fuel supplies. Rationing was imposed by the UK government. For some reason I can also remember the price of a gallon of petrol at the time, 4shillings & 6 pence 4/6p. Special various ration coupons were issued to motorists depending on the HP of their car.

Hey @Borini, just heard. You should be fine in Morriston, had 2 heart attacks and had a couple of stents put in there. I am great now, no real issues for years, just got to watch the blood pressure and get some exercise in.
All the best and get well soon.

Oh and watch what you eat, but don't forget a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

Well I fancied going to the Co-op this morning. Got there a bit late and was told by the regulars that I'd missed most of the 'good' stuff such as the chops and steaks etc so I had to settle for the following: "Irresistible" is the Co-op top of the range by the way.

2 x Chicken Flamingo Jerk pizzas
Lean beef mince 500gm
Garlic & Herb Spatchcock chicken
3 x packs Jumbo ready cooked king prawns
Pack of raw king prawns
2 x packs smoked salmon with honey
2 x Irresistible smoked salmon & egg sarnies
Irresistible Lincolnshire pork sausages
Pack of loaded pizza fries
Low fat cottage pie
Irresistible cottage pie (serves 2)
Mexican half chicken (serves 2)
Irresistible paella (serves 2)
Southern fried chicken bites
2 X Melton Mowbray pork pies
Three cheese & garlic Foubasse bread
Rainbow stir fry
Pot of Florida salad
Pack of sausage rolls
4 x fruit yoghurts
Tub sag aloo
Bag of roasting sweet potatoes
3 x Naked mango machine 750 ml vitamin smoothie drinks. AWESOME stuff. Really smooth and fruity and so thick you can almost chew it. :)

So there we have it. That lot should have cost me £98.55 and I paid £25.52 saving a massive £73. 03p. Very happy with that!

I bet your freezer is bigger than the ones in Iceland!
I take it you mean the country? :ROFLMAO:
Actually, I have a small under counter size freezer and another fridge/freezer in addition to a tall larder fridge. To be honest, they are all old and will need replacing shortly but I've had great use from them. Right now they are packed solid so no more bargain hunting for a while. :(:)
