Use this to notify others of any bargains you've purchased of whatever shape or form. People who know me know that I lauch a raid on my local Co-op where I snaffle some incredible bargains on food on a weekly basis.

I only did a modest shop this week as I just don't have any freezer space to spare but I still saved a bit. I bought:

2 x chicken mini roasts with stuffing.
BBQ pork loin steaks
Sticky maple marinaded pork kebabs.
Edwards of Conwy Cumberland sausages.
Fresh plaice fillets
Large Kingsmill loaf

Usual retail price was £23.29 and I paid only £4.31 saving £18.98. It could easily have been triple that but I've nowhere to store it. Pointless getting another freezer as it'll take me 3 months to eat what I've got!! Mind you, Hector's offered to help out!

Anyone potting on plants Lidl are doing compost at 99p per 20 litre bag.... More than 50% cheaper than wyvale. They are also selling bark chippings at £2 a bag... Great for mulching beds and topping off large pots.

It's annoying. Lidl was supposed to open on Cross Hands Industrial Estate next door to Leeks some time ago but nothing seems to be happening. The nearest to me is in Ammanford with Gorseinon, Carmarthen or Llanelli as other options. Llanelli is a bitch to get to for me - the road is full of "safety" cameras and bloody speed bumps that can play havoc with your steering, tracking and suspension.

Had to curtail my Co-op raid today as I've no room for much more food, so I just bought for immediate need. News is spreading and there were a few more people hovering at noon, which is when the pricing gun is activated. One old lady in particular was very pushy but I got rid of her by kicking one of her crutches away.;) :D

2 x packs of king prawns.
Garlic & herb pork escalopes
2 x chunky prawn & sweetcorn fishcakes
Fresh cod fillets
Breaded haddock
Large pack of lean beef mince (20 pence instead of 1.89!!) already in the slow cooker for spag bol.
Three cheese Fougasse bread (great with the spag bol)

Usual retail price is £23.26. I spent only £5.22 and saved £18.04. This is so easy to do and you can save so much money (for very little effort) on GOOD food! You can decimate your weekly spend on groceries, so give it a try. They had a load of large roast in the bag extra tasty chickens for only £1.25 and you can feed a family of 4 from one of those! ALL the big supermarkets do this. Just find out when and save lots of cash.

For dog lovers. I'm sure that you are all aware of the importance of keeping your pooch well hydrated in this weather and this bargain buy will help. If you're travelling or walking, the following is great. It's a dog water bottle that lets your thirsty pooch drink straight from the bottle with no mess or spills. Animal Instincts travel water bottle from fetch.co.uk costs just £2.49!!!

For a tasty 'ice lolly' type treat, pour some gravy (lower salt if possible) into plastic cups, add some treats then freeze overnight.

BIG BARGAIN in Home Bargains! They offer Carabao Green Apple energy drink in bright green 330ml cans for just 19 pence!! Usual price is one pound plenty. Can't say what it tastes like yet as I haven't tried it but then taste is subjective anyway. I bought 4 to try but if I do like it, I'm going back to clear the shelves!! This hot weather makes me thirsty.

I called in the Co-op on my way to HB for fags and a newspaper. Took a quick look at the reduced section and came away with 3 x 4 pack of ready cooked sausages. Love these as you can mike them in 60 seconds and these taste just great. Normally £1.50 each, I paid 38p saving £3.36 in less time than it takes to cook them.

I read today that ice is bad for dogs in hot weather as their bodies work differently to ours and ice causes them to overheat.

Could have been a fake news type of thing, not sure but just thought I'd put it out there just in case.

Thanks for the heads up, 1jack. Will double check that. I actually read it in an article about pets in a daily newspaper. Did I say welcome yet? If not, a warm welcome to you. :)

Co-op marked down early today and didn't tell me, so not much meat! :( But there was a lot of salad stuff, wraps and sandwiches, ideal in this hot weather.

Hoisin chicken noodle box
3 x prawn mayo sarnies
Smoked salmon & soft cheese sarnie
4 x Hoisin duck wraps
Salmon, watercress & Charlotte potato salad bowl
De luxe BLT sarnie
Tuna & sweetcorn pasta bowl
Smoked bbq sausage rolls
Microwave veggie pack
Swedish meat balls

Usual price was £37.79. I paid £8.95 saving £28.84. Worth 10 minutes of my time. :)

Got some McVities THIN chocolate (milk or plain) digestives at Home Bargains for 69p instead of £1.50. Those energy drinks really are quite good and at 19p each instead of £1.18, a real bargain. They now also have a sugar free option on shelf.
