Swansea v Wigan.

Here is the reason why we allowed Wigan to have a good game. Look at the heat map for Gallagher, Grimes and Byers. Notice a big hole in the midfield.

And here is Gallagher's heat map. He played mostly on the left flank:

This is not good, Gallagher is a midfielder, and a lack of positional discipline will cost us.

Yea, I think that there is definitely some formation tinkering to be done because we'd have been slaughtered on the counter attack if that was a good team. I understand though, Gallagher has only been here 3 days basically and the entire team needs to get used to how they play, something that needs to be worked on this week in training.

Cooper can really exaggerate ! When asked about Brewsters goal he replied "I've seen him score HUNDREDS of them at Liverpool and with the
National Team". Is this the sort of exaggerated spiel that he used to get the job with us?.
2.50 Mins on the above video.

Have to say that I could see any of Martinez, Sousa, Rogers, Laudrup, or Potter doing some serious damage to this league with the players we had on the field today and 4 of them being just 19 years old - it's nuts.

I'm wondering to myself how to compare Sinclair with Celina and so far Sinclair is hands down better.

You and @Yankee_Jack just won't give Cooper a break on ANYTHING, will you! Given the hundreds of training sessions Cooper has had at Liverpool and England with Brewster it is quite possible that he's seen hundreds of those from Brewster.

Here's a challenge for you: say nothing about Cooper or only positive things about him in your posts for 24 hours! Can you do it? Again, I'm not defending the man (for instance he really shouldn't have brought Routledge on for Brewster) but I am defending him against the incessant negative onslaught from you two!

You can't compare them. Sinclair is a clinical finisher, Celina isn't. Celina needs space in front of him to do something, Sinclair can be surounded by four players and still score.

But there is still a hope Celina can improve his finishing and decision making. He played really well today, and I'll be a happy camper if he makes a lot of assists.

He probably meant training sessions when he said Brewster scored hundreds of goals, and although this is an awkward statement, we shouldn't be criticising him for what he said. We used to laugh at Rodgers for his post-match interviews as well.

If Cooper can fix our midfield and our passing game I'll be the first to support him again. Bringing Brewster and Gallagher in is a really good move. Now we have pace up front, high press, and some extra steel in the midfield. Let's hope we further develop from here in terms of our playing style.

Celina is a player that needs to be allowed to just be creative. Sadly out on the left he can't be allowed to just create; he must also track back and help his fullback. We saw in the first half today how exposed he left Naughton because he wasn't tracking back. The plus side of that though is that we see him at his best in the final third; he creates and challenges opponents and makes them shit their pants. I definitely agree about Gallagher and Brewster bringing extra pace and energy and if having that extra bit in midfield from Gallagher lets Celina be more creative then that would be perfect.

Just what is there positive to say about the man. he shows no enthusiasm in the 90 mins game time, just stands there, hands in pockets, makes no attempt to encourage players,or to direct them. He looks totally dis-interested. I wish I didn't have to criticise him, but I feel he's not the man for the job, I have watched him in training sessions, and he's no different, stands with his hands in his pockets on the sideline.I will also stand by my opinion that he was vastly exaggerating.

Top 2 form has dropped off dramaticaly.
Fulham, Brentford becoming an auto threat to them.
Forrest could well be the dark horses yet.
I knew about Leeds, didn't realize West Brom were in poor form. They are really counting on promotion this year too with their wages.

@Jackflash ... so who conducts the training session if he who cannot be mentioned is standing on the sidelines.
Think it could be the grey haired guy you mentioned. Mike Marsh, Cooper brought him with him from the FA as first team coach.
This 49yr old has good previous, made 101 first team appearances for L/pool, spent 4 years as L/pool first team coach under Dalglish and also Rodgers. He then joined Cooper at the FA. Can be seen active with the squad in training videos whilst another looks on.

I appreciate that the highlights showed just the best bits but those best bits were pretty damned good. Loved the first goal; it was a real footballing strike with a superb through touch from Connor to find Brewster whose diagonal run to score was the strike of a natural finisher. And Celina's work on the left to find Ayew was also excellent and that deft, improvised finish was typical Ayew. We MUST keep him because I now think that this squad can fire us into the play-offs. Let's hope the owners show some sense and cojones and give them the chance.
