Wow that is a god awful run of fixtures for Hull. They seem overdue for a win though. If they can win 1-0 that would mean we only need to beat Reading by a goal. One of their draws came against us.

Hull had 0 shots on target and 37% possession at home turf against Luton in a so important game. A couple of days ago they lost 8:0 to Wigan.

Cardiff don't need a win, a draw is enough.

I hate that there's still a chance and I'm invested in Hull pulling off a miracle victory now. You never know. This time last season we didn't have a chance at all. Just think if we stopped a couple of goals or beat Luton we would be on top. What a shame.

Being serious I think Cardiff are home and hosed. My one regret is that it looks like Brentford will go up automatically. Had those teams met in the play-offs, Brentford would have torn them a new one.

That was a decent performance but now we're all left with the hollow feeling of what might have been. I guess we can all pick the game(s) that we let slip to leave us in this situation and no doubt that Luton fiasco will be in the minds of many. But there were other Jekyll and Hyde performances that did for us too, with so many late goals being conceded in so many games. It's no consolation that other teams can also point to similar instances but at least we've got an interest right up to the final game. And, you know, miracles DO happen! ;) But to give that a chance of happening, we MUST beat Reading in our final game and trust to some good fortune with other results. COYS!!!!!!! Some stats:

POSSESSION: 47-53 SHOTS: 17-14 OT: 7-1 CORNERS: 2-8 FOULS: 8-11 GOALS: 1-0

It must be 10 years ago now, perhaps more, that Cardiff were on their way into the playoffs. They travelled to Preston and were hammered 6-0. Anything can happen. Anything could happen. Anything rarely does. Although against City, Andy Pandy used his subs ... perhaps that’s an omen.

We could technically still catch Forrest. They are drawing to Barnsley at the moment but it would monumental for them to lose both their next two games. Possible but very unlikely. If only we were able to close out a couple games and not lose to shit teams like Stoke and Luton then we'd be happily looking forward to a playoff match.

Edit: Nevermind, I was looking at the incorrect GD column. We've got no chance at getting them.

Barnsley just beat Forest 1-0 which is amazing.

Also, Hull are not relegated yet. If Luton lose to Blackburn, Wigan lose to Fulham and are deducted 12 points for financial foul play (TBD) then Hull can survive with a win over Cardiff.

You'd probably never have thought Barnsley would beat Forest - that's a very similar proposition to Cardiff v Hull in terms of what's at stake for both clubs and the relative power difference - but look what happened.

It’s only a 6 goal difference. So many scenarios where we could steal either Forest or Cdf’s place. We are after all a high scoring outfit ☹

On Wednesday, we are still in the hunt for promotion if ...

Forest lose by 3 and we win by 3
Cardiff lose by 1 and we win by 1

There may be some finesse if we're all square on goal difference, but I don't want to risk wandering through the weeds on this. I don't know for certain but I think we'd come up short.

Who will play for a win? Who will play for a draw? Who will play with a fear of losing?

Over the last 5 games, Forest have been on the shit end of poor with Cardiff not so bad but not as good as us.

Job #1 ... we win ... and ideally we are leading by 2 at half time. This gets bounced around the locker room at Forest and Cardiff ... pangs of fear or better still panic sets in. Either way the seeds of doubt get planted and sprout as they take the field for the second half.

Stoke could give them a game. They could. Then there's a chance we could be playing boobirds in the playoff final. Let's at least do the job against Reading so I can feel good about this season.
