Swansea suing Russell Martin

I'm still trying to figure this one out, Swansea City has chose to sue Russel Martin for breach of contract related over the payment they received from Southampton. They wanted the full fee of £2 million from a Premier League club but got half of it because they had already been relegated. I don't understand why they are suing Martin instead of Southampton or having the EFL sort it out.

I feel like this exact situation should have been addressed in the contract, no one had the foresight to see it coming somehow. I don't see how they can win a lawsuit against Martin.

Been puzzling me too. This has been going on for ages but I doubt we would enter litigation unless the club's lawyers felt there was a strong case.

Calling it like it is. To presume that their were no conversations going on in the background between Soton and Maddness' agent with respect to timing is a tad naïve. The details will be in the complaint once it has been answered and hopefully docketed on-line.

Sometimes I'm in complete agreement with Simon Jordan; other times I violently disagree with his views. Whatever, he is a highly articulate man who speaks with knowledge and authority. Imo, he's an excellent broadcaster always worth a listen.

From what I figured it has a lot to do with Martin having a year left on his contract with Swansea.

Well, Martin got personal when he (wrongly) blamed the owners for not signing anyone in the winter transfer window and when he (again wrongly) blamed the lack of signings for his failures as Swansea manager. What the owners are doing to him now IS personal (and rightly so), and a way of getting back at him for breaking his promises.
