Much better balance with this shape and selection. Width, Pace and experience playing behind #9 gives every body better options.

We could be 3-0 up easily.

We should be up by more and Cardiff are going to come out this half determined to do better; they can't do much worse. Would like to see Peterson come on, he's got tricks along with pace. Byers has been non-existent for me so maybe Fulton to bring some bite in midfield. Decent match so far, Dyer and Routs rolling back the clock on this one; Rodgers definitely had a hand in this selection.

Also, Rob Jones is a horrible ref.

Good performance from us and particularly Ayew who I thought was the MOH (Man of the Half). Lots of good contributions from others including VdH who's battled away against the hoof ball, Routs and Dyer who've both threatened and looked lively whilst the mids have all done their jobs well. Now we need to stay FOCUSED because Warnock will have read his lot the Riot Act during the break and they'll step up the pressure and pace in the second period. Cardiff have often done this and looked dangerous when they did. We have to keep concentration and hit them on the counter because Warnock will have instructed them to load our box at every opportunity. Keep cool and keep WORKING, lads, and you should do it.

It's even more weird that Surridge is playing wide with Ayew still central. Surely Peterson is more suited to playing wide than Surridge?

As KVetch said above, maybe it's the height for the inevitable long balls that Coops is thinking about.
