Had an awful dream about Saturday last night where Swans lost 1-5. Seriously!! But luckily it was just a dream and the team we were playing was Aston Villa. :) Think Forest will prove to be a really hard game for us but hoping we will edge it 2-1.

Forest are a tidy team but they are two wins below us in the table. Soon to be three. We need tough matches now to keep us on our toes and focused on what it takes to be and stay at the top. Cooper would have been focused on ironing our the few bumps he’s seen in our game so far. The areas we all recognize we’ve been sub par.

I've always seen Forest as very formidable opponents over the years, I think we're in for a bit of a nail biter. They probably still have flashbacks of that Darran Pratley goal that ensured our Wembley place, and sent Brendan Rodgers into 90mph raptures up the touchline.

Last season Forest was by far the dirtiest team in the Championship. They collected 106 yellow and 6 red cards. Interestingly, all of their red cards were collected on the road in away games.

Forest finished 9th last season with only one point more than Swans. Swans had one more win and scored more goals than Forest, but Forest lost fewer games.

This season:

- like Leeds they play 4-1-4-1 formation
- unlike Leeds they don't dominate possession
- they are not good passers
- especially in away games they tend to sit back and play on counter
- even at home against poor Birmingham, in a game Forest won 3:0, they had less possession and worse pass accuracy than Birmingham

- out of 9 goals they've scored this season 4 goals are scored from set pieces
- they play 70 long balls per game to Swansea 53
- 46 % of all their shots come from outside of box, which is not good for them because these shots have a low xG value (more easy to block and save)
- their best and most creative player is Joe Lolley who has most successive dribles and provides most key passes
- left back Robinson provides crosses
- Lewis Grabban and Albert Adomah score goals

And 3 more points. I really don't see how this Forest lot can beat us.
As @The Blobster said: International break....... !! But obviously I'm hoping we buck the trend this week. We do need to start upping our game though because most pundits I've read think we're lucky to be where we are in terms of performances. I slightly agree, actually, although I think the lads have done well to get us where we are.

Well, I disagree with them because the quality of performances can't be measured by number of shots only.

It's quite simple, we play for 90 minutes, other teams don't. And when it comes to fight, determination, team work, throwing bodies on the line to block shots, clinical finishing, shots on target, conversion rate...then our performances have been great. We average 4.2 shots on target per game. It's not like we are playing some crappy, long ball, defensive football. We play most short passes per game in the Championship.

What all these pundits don't see is that Leeds, Preston, QPR, Charlton etc. already play their best football, and Swans don't. We are underperforming whilst many other teams are overperforming. So imagine what's going to happen when we start playing our best football?

Where are we underperforming?

1. Counter-pressing and quick transitions. We have to be better at punishing teams who press us high.

2. Passing under pressure. Our passing has to be better against teams who press us high. We either give the ball away cheaply (sloppy passes) or get dispossessed, which is dangerous. We are giving away easy chances to opposition.

I am sure that Cooperman has analysed where we have to improve and how to do that.

The other factor we seem to have over other teams (other than maybe Charlton) is team spirit. Cooper's consistent talk of "the collective" is not just rhetoric, they really do seem to play for each other and that is worth a goal or two (or a block or two) every game.

Not much happening either way according to comms - and Woody made a good save from a Forest break who just hit the bar as I write. Sounds like we need to shape up a bit and delivering a decent corner would be a start. Comms saying Celina keeps hitting the first man. Inexcusable!!
