With the players Cooper has added, just as with Monk, the Swansalona model has been diluted. We invested long and hard to develop a crop of U23 that could execute the model. And now we add a bunch of young players developed under a different model. Can they adjust? Will they adjust? It takes weeks of work in practice for that to happen. At Barca, for example, they expect acquisitions to take 6 months to adapt and take on what they do, because they don’t change the model ever.

I see we easily won the foul count this time which indicates that we were often under pressure. Good. If we have to put the foot in to defend our goal and break up attacks when called for, that's no bad thing. Even the best teams do it and have done so over the years.

We will get better as the squad settles but, yet again, I beg that Cooper drums into his team that we need to provide service to Borja if we are to win matches. A striker is only ever as good as the service he gets and we MUST quickly improve this part of our game.
