Clip of the lads in training. Pretty routine and boring if I'm honest - stuff I was doing 40 odd years ago under Ivor. But then I doubt the club would allow public viewing of anything particularly innovative.

Have to add that Ivor set great store in running. Anyone know Pontardawe? We'd start by gently lapping the inside of the Dutch Barn near the school. Then he'd take us out on the road (this would be in the evening) and we'd run down to a car park in the town centre where we'd do various exercises for 10/15 minutes. Back on the road, we'd have to run up Alltwen Hill then down the other side then back up the hill to the Dutch Barn. First ones back, and Ivor was always in front, would have to continue to lap the Barn at a decent pace until the stragglers all arrived. Then we'd do warm down exercises before doing various sprints. Only after all this were we allowed the luxury of playing 7 a side against each other.

I found it really tough and had to pace myself because I was about at the end of my 'career', such as it was. But I saw fit young men, guys who aspired to becoming pros with the help of Ivor's tutelage, throwing their insides up outside the Barn after completing the run. And there was still much work to do after that!! A fitness fanatic was Ivor but he always led from the front and set the standards for the rest of us to follow.

I only ever had one argument with him and it was in my car when we were driving home after training. I told him that I couldn't keep up the effort he was demanding, that I was dropping down to the "Stiffs", and would cherry pick the parts of training that I felt I could cope with. I reasoned that I didn't need such high levels of fitness to play for the second team in the Neath League. He wasn't having that!! He told me in no uncertain terms that whatever level I played at, it was my responsibility to be as fit as it was possible to be. Guess who won the argument? I just loved the guy!!

In Potter's presser today he said that Bony was ready to join in full training , so maybe he'll be available earlier than expected.
That's good news, I think he would benefit from Montero, his height in the box, and Mc B. would benefit from him with his holding off quality.

James preferred over Dyer, Routs and Narsingh. WTF are these senior pros doing to take their money.

Bench also means we don't have a #9 alternative to McB. He's due for another full 90. If he gets injured we're going to have to call up Baker-Richardson.

We can only hope that our performance tonight doesn't reflect our second half against Preston. If it does, we lose. But if we can repeat the confident way we played in the first half of that game, I can see three points for us. We need to get on the front foot, pass the ball and use our pace but we need to do it for 90 minutes and not 45. I can see Brum being physical but we have to absorb that and do our own thing. We have the players to hurt them but these players need to turn up and do their jobs - make Brum worry about what they're doing and not the other way round.

One thing you can say about Potter is that he knows his best line-up. No sign of the swapping around we had with previous managers
