SWANS 2nd 11 V CAMBRIDGE

We can beat Watford. They will not wish to play their first eleven as they need all the help in the world to get points on the board in the PL. We will go there with nothing to lose; should be a cracking game.

The one starting prediction I missed was having McKay instead of Carroll. This has been quite the run, it's only Cambridge but the Swans did what they were supposed to do on paper. Cooper has this team motivated and ready, for a whole lot of fringe players and a player who hasn't been in a 1st team game for over a year. From Carvahal to Potter and now Cooper the managers have been interesting. It's great for Peterson and Surridge to score. How long before Garrick has a price tag on him? Let's hope not, let's hope he becomes a Premier League player. Onto Leeds.

As you would expect, some excellent stats from last night. Note our shot accuracy better than 50% again! Also, the foul count shows that we were prepared to be physical when we had to be.

POSSESSION: 61-39 SHOTS: 26-6 OT: 14-2 CORNERS: 10-3 FOULS: 15-9 GOALS: 6-0

Cambridge manager Colin Calderwood said: "We couldn't cope and couldn't stop Swansea at all. We were well and truly tested and stretched and we came up against a terrific level of football".

Okay, I know that we were playing a League Two side who had also made many changes but this was a really encouraging summation about us.

And now, for me, the best news of the night. It was truly wonderful to see young Jack Evans make an appearance. It must have been devastating to have been struck down by cancer at his tender age but here he was getting on with his life after having beaten the curse. And, all sentiment aside, he got on with it to good effect playing a very sound game indeed. Well done, Jack, we're all looking forward to seeing you enjoy a tremendous career in the future. Wish you continued good health and happiness, mate. :)

In the last 180 minutes of football we've allowed just two shots on target.

This has almost become the forgotten game, especially with one of our most important games to be played on Sat.
Don't think there will be a big turnout for this one.
Just 4K turned up for this venue at Cardiff last night, with 3,999 regretting that.
Over 8,400 @Jackflash more than double what Cardiff could muster for a home game - Sunday was over 17,000 - COYS the only home of Welsh football 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I have a read on their forum quite a lot, must be the most depressing in the league, and what an indecisive bunch. If they win a game it's 'Give Warnock the freedom of the City'. Lose one and the knives are out to sack him. The latter are now by far the majority posts.

Excellent stats! We do have a B team. I noted there were some "first team" shirt numbers on the pitch:-
1,3,7 and 11, none of who seem to be Cooperman's first choice.
Maybe you guys can help me recall a side issue, cup related?
In the early Liberty years we were in the Johnstons or LDV Trophy and Martinez subbed a player off in minute one to satisfy the rule that 7? Players from the previous league match had to start. That's all my failing memory can dig up.
Which begs the question: what would the Carabao look like with such a rule in place, not to mention the FA Cup?

Based on the extended highlights, our Combination team would kill L2, win L1 with some ease, and would more than hold their own against many in the Championship. This is a great place to be squad wise. Bodes well for a strong season. All of those players are pushing for selection. All of them, could do a job if and when called on .... could we enter a B team in L1 in place of Bury at this point.

They are not a B team.....apart from Nordfeldt.

Surridge looks like a real deal. Peterson is a class player.
Garrick, a future star.
Routledge is so creative and he is technically one of the most gifted players we have.
Byers, no need to say anything.
Carroll can be excellent at this level.
John is massively underrated.
Cabango and Wilmot excellent.
Naughton, another underrated player.

And Evans? I've lost my words. Not so long ago he went through the cancer hell...Bravo!

I really can't remember the last time we had so much depth in the squad.

Watching those highlights ...what a fabulous player Routs is, brilliant touches there and a few good balls from Carroll as well. :):)
Routledge is not only technically gifted, he has a footballing brain as well. At the end of the first half he pointed out to Garrick, quite forcefully, some little detail in the lad's movement off the ball. Then they walked off together the best of chums. Remember, we are 5-0 up!
Yet not so long ago WR15 couldn't get picked!

I haven't spent much time there but this season it might provide good entertainment. So far anyways. I like the Newport supporter Taff's Word/Amber Army sometimes. He will talk football for 2 hours.

11 minutes of highlights in less than 100 minutes. Not bad, so many nice plays, assists, goals. Almost everyone involved. Declan John was making great runs, Peterson had a few bold nutmegs, didn't think I'd see Tom Carroll spinning around with the ball like that. He looked ready for his first senior appearence in a year. Byers can shoot from outside the box, Garrick has pace and good vision. It was a League Two team but overall it was outstanding the way they played when most of these players haven't played a match together.
