Shortsighted Betrayal from Long Term Project Man

OK. He deserves every insult. So, why did he do it?
If you are shafted by the owners on a regular basis you'll walk eventually. The way things were going his long term project would be starting 2020 in League 1. Only not, because he'd be sacked on relegation.
I'm not happy with the manner of his going, but I think we must credit him with reading the runes.

No bias here but I think that's an excellent article which sums up how many of us feel. I understand that he might have felt let down by the board and, along with others on here, I warned that the owners' tight-fisted policy could well lead to his departure. Which it did. However, Brighton?????

It seems that in his haste to depart what he obviously regards as a sinking ship, Potter took a leap into the sea and grabbed the first piece of flotsam that floated by. So what happened to his fine words about the 'project' that he told us all about? A project implies that there is much work to be done, that there will be bumps and blips along the way and setbacks to overcome. Potter knew all this when he accepted our job but cut and run at the first opportunity that came his way.

It disappoints even more because I regarded Graham Potter as a man of principle and character given what I had read about his background when he came to us. That he showed he is no different to all the other greedy sharks in football therefore cuts all the deeper.

Every coach needs raw material that's fit for purpose. There is none at Brighton. As I opined shortly after he left, which seems like ages ago now, he had a license to lose with us that will not exist at Brighton. A "De Boer at Palace" moment awaits him at Brighton when he tries to impress a system into players not equipped in pedigree or purpose to execute. Delusions of grandeur obviously abound as demonstrated by the way he thought little of swapping systems from game to game and within games .... who is the "Grimes" at Bright that can take on 4 different roles against one of the top teams in the world (City) and execute each with aplomb ... that's right nobody.

The one good thing about Potter's exit .... we can now drop that Swedish keeper.

I agree with Max. I wouldn't say a word had Potter left us for a top ten club where he would be able to imediatelly implement his ideas. But Brighton?

Brighton need a complete makeover, which requires ruthlessness, and Premier League is not a playground where you have enough time for experimenting, chopping and changing, playing players out of their natural positions...

The fact that he was willing to leave for Brighton is most likely a measure of how little reassurance he received about either the owners' willingness to strengthen our squad or their unwillingness to sell off our best young talent. That is the most depressing thing about his departure. I don't blame him. All this venom we are directing at him should be bottled up and thrown in a giant Molotov cocktailat at the owners (if they ever dare turn up at the ground again).

He is a bigger Judas than the Spanish waiter. Now there is talk he wants Oli and Grimes at dullton with him.
He could have done much better for himself by staying here for a year or two, nothing to lose. By the time he finds out his best team at dullton ( it took him till Christmas here) they will be odds on for relegation and he will get sacked with his reputation ruined.
Cest la vie.

I am hoping that Birch was smart enough with the release of Potter from his contract that there was a clause prohibiting the signing of our players

Even if there was such a clause it would conveniently be ignored if an offer was high enough.
