Bookies are at it already with some sort of good news for us. Predicted Championship final league positions are as follows:

01 Fulham

02 WBA

03 B'muff

04 Sheff Utd

05 Boro

06 SWANS

07 Barnsley

08 Cardiff

09 Forest

10 Stoke

Coventry, Peterborough and Blackpool are expected to go down but Derby might be in danger if they get the points deduction they are appealing against.

Early days, obviously, but with no Ayew, I'm feeling that our predicted finish is somewhat optimistic. I feel that if Cooper stays we'll be middling at best but, if Cameron Toshack comes in, we have chances. However, our major problem, as ever, is that whilst other teams will spend to improve their squads, our owners will spend diddely squat on our team. Roll on the court case!

If Cabango and Grimes stay then we have a chance.

We'll need four players:

- a right full-back/wing-back (if Roberts leaves)
- an attacking midfielder who can score some goals (someone like Gibbs-White and Gallager)
- a left winger who can score as many goals as Lowe (Lowe should be playing on the right flank)
- and a prolific striker (although I am confident our kids Cullen, Whittaker and Joseph can do the job if they play regularly under a proper manager. Cullen on the left, Whittaker/Joseph in the middle, and Lowe on the right of the front three).

Imho, attacking midfielder is the most important position we should be in the market for. We simply need more creativity and goals from the midfield. Also, I would force Fulton to attack opposition box more than he does. He could easily score 10+ goals per season.

P.S. Latibeaudiere is one to watch next season. A clever player and good on the ball.

Considering our midfield options ... the leading starters are Grimes, Fulton, Smith. Grimes / Fulton, Grimes / Smith ... both combinations can be effective in the deeper role. The latter leaves Fulton to play further forward. The goals he scored last season indicate that he is capable of doing more, in a more advanced position. In this regard, he is a bit of a sleeper because he's never been fully utilized in that role. The best goals he scored last season, he started the move deep, bust a gut to get into the box, then finished with aplomb. Clearly he has the technical skills and finesse to be a danger in the box. He's tall and can head the ball more than adequately.

We need to make the most of Fulton. He is now one of our senior pros. He should be assuming a leadership role on the field.

Behind Grimes/Fulton/Smith, we have Oli Cooper, Byers, Dhanda ... I think it's piss or get off the pot time for Byers and Dhanda. All 3 are listed on transfer market as attacking midfield players. Could Oli be the guy we're looking for.

Then there's Manning. Should he be on the bench when Bidwell starts .... or should they both be starting with Manning more in midfield?

According to Swansea Independent PSV have this morning confirmed that Joel Piroe is now a Swansea player.
Not an out and out striker but somewhat in the Lowe mould of attacking player. He has not scored many in the last few seasons so let's hope the move for Kara comes off. At 6ft 5 inches Kara is an aerial threat whilst most of his goals are scored with his feet, a cheaper and in my opinion a better option than Henry !

Agreed. What impresses me about Kara is his ability to score from all possible attacking positions. When you look at his goals you see headers, lobs, long shots, curling shots, screamers, free-kicks, nut-megging shots, penalties...
Also, he's got pace, which is a big plus in my book.
