Routs is backing Cooper

The winger believes Swansea's current head coach will bring success to the club if he is given time.

"What he is doing with the club is the right thing to do," Routledge told BBC Sport Wales.

"It's not as easy as picking up a team and saying do this and do that and it works.

It's easy if you are a good manager.

"You have managers like Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho who can go out and buy £50m, £60m or £70m players and maybe it's a bit easier.

But you also have managers like Bielsa, Bilic and Frank.

"Here it's different. Sometimes you have to have a bit more patience and realise it's not a short-term process. It's going to be a long-term process but if that process gets you to where you need to be, it's worth sticking with."

Unfortunatelly, we don't have time. Half of our squad we'll be gone in May and we'll have to start from scratch. And I don't believe that Cooper's "process" will get us to where we need to be.

Routledge says continuity when it comes to Swansea's style has been a key factor under Cooper, whose team have struggled for consistency in results after a remarkable start to the season.

"He had a honeymoon period at the start and we were on top of the world, then we have a few bumpy results and go down a bit," he added.

A few bumpy results? Yeah, right.

"But he never changed. He was always the same which is the sign of someone who believes in what he is doing and believes in his team. That's a very good thing, especially with the young players we have.

That's the problem: Cooper believes in what he is doing. This team has not progressed and we don't dominate other (poor) teams. Cooper has to change our style of play. First of all intensity, tempo and pressing.

"To feed them belief and confidence is very good."

Tell that to Peterson, McKay and John who don't play at all.

So, Routledge here's a question .... "what he is doing with the club ..." ... exactly what is that ... because the players are either not paying attention and taking it in or what he wants is just not working.

Cooper is not going to change. So we must change Cooper, i.e. eject and reload.

Over the last 20 league matches we have struggled in quality, tempo, and fitness. We are earning points at slightly greater than 1 point per match - this means we are a team flirting with relegation. And if it wasn't for the "honey moon period" inherited from Potter ... we'd be flirting with the bottom of the table.

If we were a manufacturing company with a machine tool that produced output with similar quality, throughput, and record of "over heating" ... the machine tool would be re-calibrated or replaced, because the spoilage / rejection rate wouldn't be tolerated. There is no rocket science to this; it's basically common sense if you are willing to read and get your mind around the macro performance data.

Macro Performance Data: since a match is played over 90 minutes versus 10 minutes it is itself a great tool for aggregating performance and filtering out aberrations; the result is the smoothed data point. Considering a series of matches eliminates chance and confirms the level of performance by looking at the trend and consistency of results.

This is exactly what is expected. Get the most senior and respected member of the playing staff to come out and supplement what Birch and Leon have also just said. It's a PR game and nothing more.

The club in the summer had no belief that we'd be near let alone in the playoff spots so they also had no intention to bulk the squad if we somehow managed to be in the position we currently find ourselves.

That's why everyone within the club is preaching poverty, to give the glaze that we are doing our best with the given circumstances. It's a load of bollocks, the owners won't invest a penny into this club and even with a good chance at the playoffs they still don't have the balls to back the squad.

Why is it that Andy Pandy's assistants are more involved and get more animated on the bench than Andy Pandy himself. Tate and the White Haired guy today were constantly not having any of the dross we were putting out but Andy Pandy looked stupified .... as usual.
