Rhian Brewster - Liverpool

Ready for VdH to leave in the summer I reckon. He's made it pretty clear he'd like to move on. For now he's injury cover or maybe left back.
If he can play Left back then he must one of the first names on the teamsheet!

We are so light at CB in numbers and experience that nobody is going anywhere until the end off he season. Copper (player) did a decent enough job against QPR. Although why would Guehi be a better option than our own Cooper or Harries.

Judging by how many minutes they need to score a goal, Abraham is a better striker than Oli.

In the last two seasons Oli needed 169 minutes to score a goal, Abraham 132 minutes. On the other hand, Abraham plays for a better team, he has more chances to score from.

Season 2018/19

Championship:

Abraham 26 goals
McBurnie 22 goals

Season 2019/20

Premier League:

Abraham 12 goals
McBurnie 3 goals
Did anyone predict Abraham would have the season he's had? Brewster is young but he'll give his best when he's getting minutes I'm sure of that.

Is that bye to Wilmot, Rodon or VdH?
Rodon and Mike are injured, we need a backup. VdH and Wilmot will be gone in the summer and this is 18 months loan deal. Rodon, Cabango, Cooper and Guehi will be our centre-backs next season, which is excellent. What happened to Harries? Is he out on loan?

Yes in Germany I believe.

We are no longer the Swans. We are the Cygnets. A team of youth, other clubs’ youth for the most part, not our club’s youth. We are trying to play a man’s game with boys, coached by a coach that’s only ever coached boys. As can be expected, the coach models and builds the team in his vision in the context that he understands .... and here we are.

So while we kick like crazy to keep our heads above water, we are expending all that energy on blooding and supporting the assets of other clubs gain invaluable experience. We are nothing more than an incubator club for other club’s eggs and chicks.

What exactly are we aspiring to become. It is not Swanselona. Not this way, it’s not.

These loans make me nervous theyde going to sell Rodon and Ayew. Selling James was a mistake, granted it would have been tough to keep him. He still had a year and a half on his contract though. James would have given them a better chance at promotion this year. Same with Rodon. Rumours Swans are looking at Emre Mor and Julien Ponceau now but doesn't seem very likely we'll get either.

Nothing wrong with signing top quality young players on loan from other clubs if they are better than our own U23 players. The question is are they better? We'll see.

Also, I don't like 6 months loan deals. A 12 months loan deal with option to buy the player would be ideal.

Winning promotion with a team loaded with 19 year old players would be something. Something of a miracle, but hell I'm game. The problem with all these loans is that one day, all at once, they disappear and so therefore would a significant chunk of our starting XI if they all start (and if they don't then what's the point) ... Woodman, Guehi, Brewster, Wilmot ... puff, they're gone. All that development effort ... and puff they're gone.

And with so many seniors ending their contracts in the summer that leaves the cupboard looking pretty bare. Is anybody thinking about this.

If we do, by some miracle get promoted, then there will be dozens of players flocking to sign-on ... but if we don't then we've gained nothing, built nothing, have nothing for the following season. Seems a strategy predicated on "hope".

Julien Ponceau is really highly rated; a workhorse who apparently loves getting into the thick of things in the midfield. Sevilla and Inter have said to have interest in him. Bringing him here would be a coup for us. We need someone with some speed and bite in midfield, would be a great signing.

As for Emre Mor, I'm not sure how we'd be able to afford him. Galatassaray can pay high wages and he'd likely have to be purchased in order to get him in. Maybe we've found some buyers for Ayew, Borja or another. Or maybe the owners believe promotion is achievable this year and are going for it. :)LOL:)

Wasn't it Alan Hanson that made that regretable statement "You don't win anything with kids"

If the young loan players somehow wona promotion maybe they'll be able to afford Woodman. But yeah it does look pretty grim with expiring contracts and a high number of loans.

I don't think we have a chance to sign Brewster for another season. If Liverpool don't keep him, then I'm pretty sure they'll send him out on loan to a Premier League club, just like they did in 2019 with Harry Wilson who was sent out on loan to Burnemouth after his loan spell at Derby in the Championship.

This is what thisisanfield.com say:

"A first team role in Jurgen Klopp‘s side is certainly one of them having shown off his clinical finishing ability and tireless work ethic but if a loan option is pursued instead, it is likely to be in the topflight rather than back in the Championship."

Also, I think both Brewster, Gallagher and Guehi will want to make another step in their careers.

I predict an exodus of the Swansea 2019/20 season squad in the next transfer window.

Ayew, Grimes, Brewster, Gallagher, Guehi, Wilmot, Celina, Grimes, Rodon, Dyer, Routledge, Roberts, Van der Hoorn, Mulder, Woodman, Naughton, even Byers and Dhanda...???

The club will be in deep s*** financially in 2020/21 season. It's our last season with parachute payments, and the amount we'll get is the lowest of all three parachute payments. There will be no income from the season tickets sale because of Covid-19. Is the club selling any merchandise? How it's going with the local sponsorships? Everyone is losing money right now so I would be surprised if there are any. I fear this season has been the last train to Eldorado.

On the other hand, the rich Premier League clubs will try to poach the best players from the desperate Championship clubs. If they offer £2 m for Ayew, Rodon, Roberts, Grimes...do you think the club won't sell?

It doesn't feel good does it. This is what I hate about football, players can't stay with a club. Did we have to sell James. I get some players want to play with the best and chase trophies. Other players will chase money though. The owners have the attitude of sell everyone with any value like so many other clubs. Then they risk a season with inconsistent older players, young unproven players and loanees.

We were very lucky with Guehi, Gallagher, Wilmot, Woodman, Surridge and Brewster, it's hard to see that happening again.

We all know League 1 is around the corner until the fire sale stops.
