Decent game but we didn't quite fire on all cylinders and Reading often looked dangerous on the break with our keeper giving us some nervy moments from crosses and his distribution was pretty iffy. Very relieved when we got our second from a lovely move. Dan James very good again but he does need some shooting practise and VdH solid at the back.

I would say more but my view was blocked by this lanky hooligan sat next to me! But seriously, thanks, Blobs, great company as always. I enjoyed. :)

PS: Many thanks to Borini for the use of his ticket. Hope you're well enough to use it yourself before long.

Oi,! Not so much of the lanky , shortarse !
Another game where we could have scored a bagful with a little more composure , we could also have conceded a few but for some excellent defending from VDH and Joe.
Nordfeldt continues to frustrate me. He does not command his 6 yard box , just stands on his line and leaves everything to his defenders. I can't remember the last time he actually came for a cross , shit keeper and his distribution puts years on me, on one occasion yesterday he passed it out while under no pressure from the penalty spot , passed it straight up the pitch with no speed on the ball , only problem being a Reading attacker was on the edge of our box and luckily for Nordfeldt the ball bounced over the forwards foot !
A good effort from all the team but we lost our way in the second half .

There's no question that Reading did pose us a few problems and won several headers in our box that could well have gone in on another day. They also cashed in a couple of times on our mistakes and got in on goal but fortunately their finishing was generally as bad as ours. Seems churlish to complain about us because we put in a good performance, particularly first half. But Reading came back into it in the second period and had chances to snatch something. We HAVE to improve our shot conversion because we are allowing teams a sniff when by rights we should be out of sight and this was the case yesterday. And Dan James is very culpable in this respect.

Not complaining about Dan because he's coming on in leaps and bounds but he has to show more composure to bring an end product to his game. He frequently blasts the ball over when well placed when a little thought about his shot would bring a better result. That said, he was my MOM and when he does bring goals to his game, he's going to be a hell of a player. Can only congratulate him on his progress so far and he must surely be knocking on the door for his first Welsh cap. Just brilliant to see our youngsters coming through and beginning to thrive.

Stats from yesterday, Swans first:

Possession: 64-36 Shots: 25-14 OT: 9-4 Corners: 7-8 Fouls: 5-14

The foul count gives an indication of Reading's need to stop us by any means when we threatened and we often threatened. But just 9 shots on target out of 25 with only one goal from open play tells me that more precision is needed in front of goal. When we find that, the sky's the limit.

It's hard to be critical with such a scoreline. I particularly liked our balls out of defence to the wings. They were quite often not received/controlled by the widemen, but were hit with sufficient speed that their defence had no time to intercept. Compare that with Mike's loopy, though accurate, long balls on Tuesday.
Dan James will ALWAYS shoot on sight, just like Scotty, but where is Oli to pick off the fumbles.
10/10 for entertainment and excitement. It wouldn't have been so cheek-clenching if we'd put away an earlier opportunity.
Well done, Swans! We've got quite a few budding JBs in the squad.
