Players who could leave in January!

We have a number of players whose contracts expire next summer and, unless we offer new contracts to them, we could lose them for 'silly' money in the next window rather than get nothing at all when they're out of contract. The players concerned are Nordy (says he's unhappy anyway), Erwin Mulder, Mike van der Hoorn, Kyle Naughton, Yan Dhanda, Tom Carroll, Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer and Borja Baston.

Obviously our league position at the end of the year, which will be fairly indicative of our chances of promotion, will dictate the club's thinking in respect of whom to keep or let go. But I'm interested to know the feelings of you guys on here. Who is a 'must keep'? Who would you release? Baston, for instance, would have to go if we were only mid-table or worse because we couldn't afford him. M vd Hoorn would probably look for a higher level of football. The likes of Routs and Dyer might be happy with a 12 month rolling contract. Who knows? But what are your thoughts?

Routs and Dyer have maybe one, probably no more than two seasons left. Keep them and milk them for all the quality they can deliver on the field. It's no good keeping them and having them on the bench or in the stands. Much better to play them balls out for 50 minutes or so them sub them off. They know how to play. Others on the squad are still trying to figure it out.

Naughton should be retained at league appropriate comp. Same with VdH. If we don't keep them we need replacements, better the devils we know.

Murder and Nothing can both go ... we have defenders and coaches that are better keepers than them.

Carroll has to crack the current line-up and demonstrate his leadership and other values at this level otherwise what's the point.

Dhanda ... potential. Not ready yet, but another season or two, and a few extra pounds of lean muscle would do the trick.

Mulder and Nordfeldt out. If possible, use the money to buy Woodman.

Keep Hoorn if he wants to stay.

Keep Naughton. Where will we find a full-back of his quality who can play on both sides?

Keep Dhanda. The kid has a great potential, though needs to toughen up.

Let Carroll go. He hasn't been playing regularly for the long time. I've lost my patience with him.

Keep Routs and Dyer for another year, but they must get some minutes on the pitch.

Let Borja go. We can't afford his wages. He is a hard worker, but we need a striker (or two) who's got pace, who can create something from nothing, and who can create something for other players. We need a poor man's Firmino.
