OUR BEST FOREIGN ELEVEN

I'm hoping that Cooper will have spent a great deal of time during lockdown studying videos of our games and that Leon and Curt will have been doing the same. With luck, they will have spotted the mistakes that were made, and Lord knows there were plenty of them, and get to work on the training ground putting them right. I don't hold out much hope of this but that's what they should all have been doing.

Mind you, spotting the mistakes is one thing, putting them right is another!

I'll bet you thought I was going to nominate me self! Roberto Martinez 63 wins 37 draws 26 losses. A 50% win total. He brought the Swanselona style of football.

Personally though I wonder what could have been with Laudrup. He had a keen eye for spotting talent and the right players.
Yes, I think Roberto turned the corner for us.
But Laudrup had the pulling power to bring players in. As you say he had a keen eye for spotting talent and the right players, but also at the right price,
One wonders what would have been if that back stabbing Monk & Co. hadn't convinced a gullible Jenkins to get rid of him.

There's no doubt that Martinez deserves the accolade for the onset of Swanselona but I have to give a nod to Brian Flynn as well for planting the seeds early on. That said, it's no secret that my personal favourite was Michael Laudrup who guided us to our first and only major trophy. Had he stayed along with his signings (not all of them successful, mind), together with others that he undoubtedly would have brought in, I really believe that we would now be a fixture in the Premier League with the brightest of futures. I also believe that the club would have been sold but to genuine, proper owners who would have taken pride in our unique position rather than treat us like an oil rag as have the present owners.
