I can't remember what I had for breakfast, let alone how Alan Tate shaped up when defending corners etc.
I do recall he read the game well and always walked on tiptoe.
But I can't recall where he lined up for free kicks. Our big defenders in League 2 were Iriekpen, Monk and Tate and I think they had to look after the keeper, Willy Gueret, who was quite small and liked to stay on his line - he had Leon on duty near post to make him look tall.
It was just a throwaway remark linking with the news the Sir Alec thinks Alan Tate could be Swans manager.
I'll get my coat.

Just watched Chelsea get a deserved win against Arsenal. I don't have BT Sports but they showed the game on their Youtube channel. For those in a similar position to me, I believe the Champions' League final is also being shown on Youtube.

Yes a convincing win but what a terrible venue, From behind the goal it must be about 120 ft to the spectators , and a huge wide area down the touchlines, spoilt the atmosphere quite a bit.

Spanish club Sevilla has announced the death of ex Arsenal winger Antonio Reyes.
Sevilla has announced Antonio Reyes age 35 died in a car crash.
He would be well remembered at Arsenal as being part of the 2003/04 season unbeaten side . RIP.

Low key game between Liverpool and Spurs who put on a borefest. Hardly a good advert for the Premier League. But at least I got to watch it on BT Youtube again. Pleased for Klopp and disappointed for Poch as I like both managers.

The quality of football was awful. Too many poor passes, crosses and corner-kicks.
Three weeks lay off and 30+° C in Madrid didn't help. Both teams played (too) cautiously and the result of that was a borefest. A pity, because they CAN play great football.

What sums it up for me was, I was out having breakfast this morning at an outside breakfast bar, along came an obvious L/pool supporter, shirt, cap, tattoo's the lot. I nodded to him and said "good result" he jokingly replied, "Did we win, haven't seen the result yet, I fell asleep halfway through the game"

Between the final and the semi final, it appears that for both teams to be at their best they have to be standing in a hole. Only then, when all seems lost, will they start to play their best football.

I think that the occasion got to both teams and the fact that it was stiflingly hot didn't help with free-flowing football. Spurs had far more of the game than Pool with more possession and shots on target etc. However, I felt that Poch got his selection wrong with Harry Kane. Nippy, mobile Moura would have given the tall CBs far more problems and Kane could have been subbed on if and when needed.

I think Kane was not even fit enough for the bench. It was the same when Potter played an unfit Fer last year. It makes the team half a man short. It cost Poch big time as pool were dreadful yesterday and Spurs were blunt in the last third. It could have been a glory day for Spurs. Dreadful decision to play Kane. Even if fully fit he would not be match fit.

Klopp has obviously realised that only attacking and high pressing football won't win him many trophies. He plays a much more controlling football now, especially against the big teams when it's too much at stake and when Liverpool have a lead. He's become pragmatic, just like Mourinho.

Wales fcuked up again and lost 0-1 to Hungary. As against Croatia it was a tight game and we had our chances, which of course we didn't put away. As it happens our usual match winner Gareth Bale was the chief culprit and missed an absolute sitter at 0-0. The ball came to him on his right foot with just the keeper to beat and he scuffed it into the keeper's hands. He earns £600k a WEEK and for that sort of money I'd expect him to knock it in with his dick! He was in third gear all night and frankly he wasn't worth his place. But of course I understand why Giggs had to pick him because he's always likely to produce one touch of magic to win the game. In mitigation, he's not played regularly for Real Madrid so would be lacking match sharpness. But if tonight is indicative of his form in Spain it's not difficult to see why ZZ hasn't been picking him.

Dan, by the way, made a couple of exciting runs but wasn't given the ball often enough.

It looks like he's lost his explosive pace and composure in front of goal. In one of his latest interviews he moaned about modern footballers being robots who have to eat and sleep when they are told to. He sounded like he'd rather be playing golf than football.

Just like against Croatia he didn't get enough service. Pitty.

P.S. Hungary surprised me. They are better than I thought they were.

Cardiff City Chairman to leave the club.
CCFC Chairman Mehmet Dalman is reported to be in final negotiations in purchasing Championship rivals Charlton, saying he felt the need to be a chairman/owner.
This will come as a big blow to Cardiff as Dalman was a huge influence in the running of the club, possibly lead to the leaving of manager Warnock, who had a close relationship with Dalman, who actually recruited Warnock.
After all the shit we've taken on their site over our present situation, Happy Days:D

Due to the now interest in the 'Women's World Cup' there's an article on the BBC Sports site, 'The lost Lionesses.....Englands forgotten teenage football trailblazers' It starts back in 1971 when England sent a team of youngsters (one being 13 years old).the majority having only played in parks in front of maybe a dozen people off to Brazil for the Women's World Cup. to be confronted by 90,000 in the amazing Azteca Stadium.
It's well worth a read if you have a spare 10 minutes.

I had a bit of time on my hands so watched Australia's famous victory over Brazil. Exciting stuff. Our Sian Massey was earning a bit of pocket money running the line. She had a minor wobble when she flagged the winning goal offside, overturned by VAR (own goal).

Credit Where Credit Is Due.
I thought Englands women had a great win over a well fancied and confident Norwegian side last night, their third goal ( Lucy Bronze ) worthy of winning any International game. She also has a remarkable understanding with Parris down the right, who also had a great game.
