There’s a big difference between playing football, which the English do pretty well, and playing Total Football, which the English don’t get at all, but the Dutch perfected if not invented out right .... and since Cruyff arrived in Barcelona the Spanish have tried to emulate with reasonable success.

I will also point out that Cardiff is much too close to England to know the difference.

This is one reason why we, the best club in Wales, should never ever hire an English manager.

Thought Holland deserved it. They looked more fluent and played by far the better football. Bit blunt up front but they totally bossed the midfield. They had 29 shots to 13 with 14 on target to 3 which reflected their effectiveness. That said, England could have nicked it when Lingard's strike was ruled out for offside by the tiniest of margins after a really excellent move. But you can't defend as England did and expect to win matches. Reminded me of us!!

A pretty even match in my opinion. Both teams played some good football. Two terrible defensive errors and poor set piece defending decided the outcome.
