If the winding-up order against Bolton is successful, it could lead them to go into administration and receive a 12-point deduction as a result.

It is understood a potential takeover by a Cheshire-based consortium is off.

And not good news for Birmingham.

Birmingham are facing a point deduction starting from the next season.

'A three-man disciplinary commission will meet later this week to decide if Birmingham are guilty of breaching new Profitability and Sustainability rules, introduced at the start of the 2016-17 season.

The EFL has reportedly recommended a 12-point deduction to its clubs - although this has not been confirmed.

If imposed this season, a 12-point penalty would see Birmingham drop to 38 points - just two points above Rotherham in the relegation zone.

But Sky Sports News understands the commission could take several weeks or possibly months, before publishing its decision - making any potential points deduction this season increasingly unlikely.'

We all better chip in. If Bolton go under, we’re set to lose 6 points and that doesn’t put us in too good a position either.

'Birmingham City handed nine-point deduction over FFP rule breaches to leave them just above relegation zone and battling for survival

As Sportsmail revealed earlier this week, an independent panel listened to the cases presented by lawyers representing both Birmingham and the English Football League at a hearing on Monday.

And while the EFL have yet to issue an official statement, it is understood the panel have chosen to deliver a sanction that sends Garry Monk's side plummeting down the Championship table to 18th and just five points clear of the relegation places.'

The question is why they didn't do that to Wolves last season and Forrest this season. Also Stoke who were relegated last seson and massivly invested in players this season.

The 9 point deduction has now been made. Feel a certain degree of sympathy for the club but none whatsoever for their manager.

It's ridiculous to penalize teams that played them. We had nothing to do with the running of Bolton or any other club.
