So this guy has been selected into Sweden's squad. They must be in sorry shape in the keeper department. If all you need is someone to sit on a bench then I guess he may be good enough, but a big oak or a pine tree would do better in real action.

Benda is young but is he good enough to challenge Mulder and Nordfeldt. Clearly we need to fix this position because it is costing us goals that British keepers are not conceding on other teams. When a keeper is better as a poor CB than he is as a keeper then we've got problems.

In this league there are big solid keepers, not spectacular although the WBA keeper had his moments, but they do the basics exceptionally well. Stack a couple of solid CBs in front and you've got control of the core of your penalty box ... certainly against pretty teams like us where movement and tempo is lacking, crossing is poor and #9s are green.

Is it possible that Jenkins allowed X amount of first team games to be written into Nordfeldt's contract thereby putting Potter in handcuffs.

I would like nordfeld to have his last game for us tomorrow, shipping 10 against Citeh might damage Mulder's confidence!

Better to ship 10 than 20. We will need a keeper with some semblance of ownership of the box to support our defenders.

My only hope is that we are so amp'd up that we play at a tempo that will negate City. Our first ever match in the Prem was against City away - we held our own (for the most part) until Aguero came on for the last 20 minutes or so. Rogers' team was not that strong on that night, but we had our newly arrived keeper Vorm in the line-up and he was amazing.

Expecting nothing less than a good hiding and that's not being pessimistic, just realistic. We're sure to lose but that's acceptable providing the lads give everything they've got and play with pride and commitment. None of us will be happy if any of them are out there with stars in their eyes just happy to be on the same pitch as the superstars.

In old fashioned parlance we need to get into 'em. Make them hop and dance fearful of getting injured and missing out on the glamour games in the Champion's League. I don't mean play dirty, just be competitive and tackle like they mean it. We won't make top six and it's doubtful we will be relegated, so the lads can put everything they've got into this game. After all, it's a chance for individuals to shine and show their talent against one of the top teams in the world. Who knows what that could lead to in the future? If I was playing, I know I'd be busting a gut out there.

Are either of them any worse than Fabianski has been this year? It's a shame how he's regressed. Giving up 2 against Huddersfield already.

I haven't watch him against Huddersfield but Fabianski has been West Ham's best player this season.

In fairness, Nordfeldt did a fine job today.
Agreed, redeemed himself today, and warranted his selection.
Can only endorse those comments and I have been a big critic. However, one good game doesn't solve the inherent deficencies we all know he has. He needs to perform like this on a consistent basis. He's shown us that he's a good shot stopper but he needs to work on crosses and the control of his area plus his distribution can be awful at times. More work needed but, nonetheless, a good showing yesterday. Well done.

Nordfeldt and Mulder have been with us for over 3 seasons now. What do they work on in practice? You would think in that over this time these keepers could have developed the tools to be accomplished in dealing with crosses etc. it’s remarkable that they are that deficient

Just an observation. There was a tactic to kick out from goal to the left runne I think, because it rarely found the target.

What do they work on in practice?
I have asked this question numerous times about our general shooting ability; the quality of our crosses; the taking of pens etc etc but there seems to be little or no improvement in those areas. I have great faith in Potts but I have certain doubts about the rest of his staff. Are they pro-active enough in taking certain players aside and working on their weaknesses? That's what they are there for.
