Sad to say it, but I have to say it, Leon has lost the plot and he's only just begun ... Leon Britton looks to build again after decade of magical memories | Swansea

If you're going to build something, you have to employ a competent builder. Cooper has not demonstrated over the last 19 games that he's qualified to be a laborer never mind a builder.

Even HJ, as much as we all despise him, finally recognized that Jacket was not a builder, dumped and replaced him with Martinez.
Maybe there wouldn't be the need for him to go to all this trouble if, as strongly rumoured, he was part of the plot along with Monk.Tate,& Williams to remove Laudrup.

I'd heard that he was involved at first but then backed out of the thing.

Arteta was just interviewed prior to the Arsenal v United match. When asked about results to date, he said that they are seeing performance as expected and talked about working to establish "Principals" and that these include work and tempo (paraphrase), and with these results will come.

With all the drivel that we've heard out of Cooper in pre-match and post-match pressers .... has he ever talked about the "Principals" that he is trying to instill into the squad. Can anybody articulate them?

"Steve is trying to implement a style through transition, but again that takes time and patience," he added.

“If you remember, it was the same for Graham Potter for the first half of last season."

A blind man could see what Graham Potter was trying to implement last season. Already in December 2018 we had a style and played a good brand of football. Passing from the back, high passing accuracy, direct forward passing, and quick transitions. In January 2019 we started to dominate other teams. And now? Nothing. No style at all. In December 2018 Potter had a settled squad, in January 2020 Cooper doesn't know his starting XI.

“Every club goes through it during the football cycle. Look at the likes of Manchester United, for example, they have been going through that period as well. They still are – and they are a huge club on a global scale.

“Over the last 10 years just look at the big clubs that have been relegated from the Premier League and struggled to adapt."

"Sheffield United, Leeds, Southampton, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday, plus others, have all had trouble in stabilising themselves during the transition and have slipped through the Championship into League One."

And why was that? Because Manchester United and other "big" clubs have made the same mistake: they have appointed wrong people as their managers and sporting directors. And their recruitment have been terrible.

What happened to Swansea and other "big" clubs has not been an inevitable transition Leon, this has been an avoidable failure.

“We lost the goals of Oli McBurnie and Dan James, plus his pace, in the summer and finances are such following relegation that you can’t just go out and buy replacements."

But we have Ayew who used to play for Bielsa's Marseille, who played and scored in the Premier League and whom we sold and resigned for around £20m a couple of years ago. We have Borja who scored 18 goals in one season in La Liga, and we had Surridge who has just been recalled by a Premier League club. We have Peterson who was bought last summer and Cooper is not using him at all, we have Kalulu for pace and he was signed by you guys. And as for James replacement there are a lot of young players at big clubs who are not ready for the Premier League but who would be excellent in the Championship. Remember how many goals Tammy Abraham scored last season?

“When you look at it overall,’’ he added, “we are five points better off than where we were this time last season with three fewer defeats. We are also just one point off the play-offs, so there is still plenty to play for."

There is a huge difference. Our football last season was getting better and better, and this season it's going from bad to worse. We are 2 points off the play-off places, but for how long? If we continue like this we'll be 2 points clear off relegation places in April, and it won't be funny if it happens.

And I agree "there is still plenty to play for" , but only if you actually play and don't pretend to play.

One word ... myopic.

So we need a bigger change than we thought. Leon definitely is not a technical director. He's not discriminating and demanding enough. And, he's looking at the performance data all wrong. The story is there in plain text for anybody with an once of yogurt to read and understand. Does he actually watch our matches.

When is this Cooper fiasco going to end, I think the general consensus now is that we are where we are in the league, not because of him but in spite of him. Whatever possesed us to employ this idiot, who hoodwinked three (What one would consider, intellegent football brains) into believing he was their man (without one iota of profesional football management.)
Lets not fool ourselves, we are where we are due to equally bad results from surrounding teams. but that's highly unlikely to continue.
Birch, Leon &Curt, you got it wrong. You did the hiring, now stand up and do the firing. NOW, before it's too late.

@Jackflash ... exactly, we are where we are despite of ourselves. Are you going to state that at the fan forum coming soon. Somebody needs to.

Earning at just over 1 point per game is a piss poor way to qualify for promotion play offs, entertain the supporters, and in a highly unlikely event we actually get promoted can only end in disaster in the Prem.
