New Manager NOW?

No need to rehash reasons why if you post 'YES' because we all know them only too well by now. But by all means explain why if you post 'NO'. We are still just, only just, in with a shout of the top 6 providing the right man is appointed NOW!! I like Steve Cooper as a man from what I've read but, having seen the performance of the team for a fair period of time, I have no confidence in his experience or ability to take us on to better things. The general consensus is that this is a weak Championship this season yet here we are lagging behind and wasting a golden opportunity to regain our place at the top table. So my vote is:

YES.

Yes

Has lost the dressing room , heard today that even the ground staff dislike him !
His substitutions don't make sense and are made too late, his lack of enthusiasm at the side of the pitch, his wastage of players , Routs,Dyer, Peterson, Kalulu ,Borja Fulton,Naughton is disgraceful !
Does he actually have a game plan ? Do players train with a ball , do they know we play in white shirts, are they coached in passing backwards and refusing to shoot ?? Why are players who were so good under Potter now next to useless?

He simply has to go now , he ain't got what it takes and never will have sufficient football acumen , man management skills or player motivation to successfully manage even a lower tier team. His less than honest after match pressers are totally inaccurate excuses for whatever shambles he has overseen !

Yes ! It's time Birch, Briton,& Curtis bit the bullet, held their hands up and said "We were wrong" I'm sure they'd earn a lot more respect rather than just sitting back and allowing this brain dead moran to decimate our club.

I agree that Cooper is increasingly looking like the wrong man for the job. Clueless tactics, absolutely no inspiration for the players and looks utterly out of his depth.

Why on earth are we after Brewster from Liverpool is a big question. We need a midfield general, someone who can dominate that area of the park. Honestly Leroy Fer would be a godsend right now if you could get him fit and consistent.

Apparently we have 3 points more than at the same time last season, which can only be because of the August Streak. Playing the same way in August as we do now would see us with a massive points deficit compared to this time last season.

There is no question that Cooper rode on the coat tails of what Potter had put in place early doors. But the further we moved away from the Potter era the more his influence diluted and the more Cooper's ideas started to kick in, which is why we now have the form of a relegation side. But think back. Even when we were getting good results we, for the most part, were NOT playing well. Performances were streaky, inconsistent and disjointed with key players seeming to take it in turn to have stinkers. But the most damning aspect of all is the fact that players such as Grimes, Roberts, Celina and others have looked a shadow of themselves compared to the form they showed under Potter. We have to ask WHY? Thing is, are Leon, Curt and Trevor Birch asking the same question?

Our great start this year was largely due to luck and exceptional finishing (percentage wise) of Borja.

We have hardly played a full game of good quality football; the Cardiff game is the only one that comes to mind but let us be honest. They were trash and we were decent. The problem for me is our midfield is absolute powderpuff; every single one of them bar Fulton is a playmaker who rarely wants to get stuck in. That reminds me of the Cardiff game again, we were absolutely up for that game. Grimes was throwing himself all over the place, putting tackles in, wanting to be first to the ball even if that meant being physical. Why can't they do that every match? Why can't Cooper and the rest of the management see that it what's required.

We'll see him on Thursday but that kid Connor Gallagher from Charlton is exactly the type of player we could use. He gives 100% every single match, throwing himself around and wanting to dominate the midfield.

The Cardiff game was not the one where we played good football. We played high intensity football, but not good quality football. We outfought them, not outplayed them. High intensity is just the first step to good football. It's a basic thing that shouldn't be mentioned as something special.

It's incredible we say Swansea play good football when the players run and fight a little bit more than they usually do.

This is not a criticism of your post @IanABS94 , our standards have become so low.

This is how badly Cooper is performing ...

Here is the current table: we are 10th on 38 points and above Cardiff.

Here is the league table from the start of the Shit Streak (match day 7) to today. We are 17th with a return on effort of 22 points from 19 games; a tad over 1 point per game. Cardiff is above us on 9th.

We earned 16 points from August. If we take the 1 point per game return on effort from the Shit Streak and apply it to August. We end up with just 6 points - a deficit of 10 points. Subtracting 10 points from our current position in the league we have 28 points, which is distinctly below Potter's return at the same time last season, and would put us 18th/19th/20th depending on the goal difference.

We are a bottom club, thanks to Cooper. Who else can take a squad of internationals and seniors with Prem experience, disrupt all the good work of the previous manager, and grind it into shit.

And Cardiff, on form, is currently the better club!

The tad over 1 point per game return on effort, after 19 games, is performance level pretty much set in stone. If we project that forward over the remaining 21 matches, we end up with 38 + 21 = 59 points. We should be just below mid-table with that.

However, discount August, and we would end up around 38 + 21 - 10 = 49, which last season would see us 19th in the table, only 8 points above relegation to L1.

We're skating on thin ice. Cooper has not demonstrated that he can turn it around.

On further consideration, there is no way that Toshack / Richards - or Curt / Leon for that matter or even Tate / Magic Daps - could have done a worse job than Cooper.

Take any squad of players and there is an inherent performance level that left to their own devices they would achieve. Somebody would step up and lead and provide direction and one way or another it would get worked out. This squad is performing at or even possibly below its inherent performance level. The latter is possible since a coach could have a negative value add. If we told Cooper to fuck off and left the players to their own devices ... with leadership coming from Ayew, Routs, Dyer and VdH ... I would bet serious money that we couldn't do much worse than we have during the Shit Streak.

Sad to say it, but I have to say it, Leon has lost the plot and he's only just begun ... Leon Britton looks to build again after decade of magical memories | Swansea

If you're going to build something, you have to employ a competent builder. Cooper has not demonstrated over the last 19 games that he's qualified to be a laborer never mind a builder.

Even HJ, as much as we all despise him, finally recognized that Jacket was not a builder, dumped and replaced him with Martinez.
