Here are some DREADFUL stats from this game:

POSSESSION: 68-32 SHOTS: 10-13 OT: 4-5 CORNERS: 4-3 FOULS: 14-10 GOALS: 0-1

Quite how we allowed them more shots at goal than us with less than half our possession is something beyond my understanding. Perhaps Steve Cooper might know - but I doubt it very much.

Looking at some of the % passing stats from our so-called midfield might be a clue. Celina 76.1: Byers 75.2: Grimes a 'mighty' 80.4. Other notable efforts include Routs 77.9: Bidwell 76.7: and Naughton 7.0. Doesn't take a genius to work out that if we keep giving the ball to the opposition ALL OVER THE FIELD we're gonna get fucking tuned!! Just what the hell are this lot doing in training??????????

But the actual passing stats are only the tip of the problem. I'm sick and tired of saying on here that MOVEMENT AND SUPPORT MAKES THE PASS. Do you hear that Mr Cooper? It's one of the most basic principles in football and you must know about it because I was taught to coach this over 50 years ago!!!! So the question is, why is it so obvious to all us fans that our players don't have a clue about how to do it because in game after game they all seem to be competing to give their best impression of complete inertia? Or how to get through a football match with the least thought and effort. Are you and your staff not capable of coaching even this most basic of footballing skills?

In Formula 1, World Champion Jack Brabham was once asked the secret of his success. He replied that it was to win at the slowest possible speed. Well, we are doing the second bit but forgetting all about the first part. In boxing terms, Joe Bugner was once described as having the looks of a Greek statue but with less moves! That's us.

I wouldn't say so much if our so-called footballers were noted more for their aggression and ball-winning abilities than passing and keeping possession. But they're not are they? I've read many reports describing them as a 'milksop' midfield lacking guts and aggression and, for the life of me, I can't disagree with this. The lead must come from the top but I do not see leadership from our manager. I see indecision and doubt etched in his face and in his body language and reflected in our performances on the field. The Potter 'legacy' has now gone, much the same as when Laudrup's influence and impetus was finally diluted by Monk who then had to sink or swim by his own devices. He sunk - and destroyed our DNA in the process. Unfortunately, I see Steve Cooper heading that way and he doesn't seem to have a lifejacket.

Let’s revisit Byers .... there is ample video of his performances for our U23 against other top U23 teams. He was not an ornament in midfield then, he is now, Richards and Toshack would never have tolerated this. Cooper has managed to bleach clean in a few months what it took R&T seasons to program.

Look at Grimes ... a shadow of what he was capable of doing last season when Potter could play him anywhere and he would deliver to perfection.

Good points. Richards and Toshack did the valuable groundwork and handed their charges to Potter to put some gloss on the players, which he largely achieved. But these players are not only going backwards under Cooper, they are doing so at a rate of knots! Can they not see this at the Liberty? Surely Leon and or Curt should be stepping in and asking WTF??!!

At this point, we can still salvage a season, but we need to act now. Fire the fraud and promote Toshack and Roberts until the end of the season and let's see if we can resurrect our philosophy using the two principle architects of Swanselona from our under ranks. It will be a hammer blow to our U23 squad on the short term, but frankly we're playing like a Boeing Supermax and the ground is coming up fast.

Toshack and Roberts were good with kids,
So was clueless with the England kids.
Check out our unders results ...at the moment the under 18s are regularly losing by 4 or 5 goals , the 23s are losing more than they are winning too, is it the quality has gone? The coaches are the same.

@Borini ... U-17 and U-23 are two different types of player in terms of maturity. What Cooper coached versus R&T is not equivalent.

Our unders are performing poorly with respect to previous cohorts that's for sure. The drubbing off City the other night was terrible,.

I'm sure that in time Cooper will go on to become a very good coach indeed but as I write, I'm far from convinced that he's the right man for us. And, you know what? Even if we win our next game I won't be changing my opinion because I know that yet another nightmare performance will be lurking just around the corner.
It was lurking allright, at the John Smith stadium against Huddersfield tonight. Nightmare followed nightmare this time with the prospect of a hat trick of nightmares against Fulham on Friday night, who just demolished Derby 3-0. Mr Cooper, I believe the clock is ticking!
