Before I get snowed under I'm taking the chance to wish all posters, their families and loved ones a really joyous Christmas and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. As I say in my avatar, may the best of your past be the worst of your future.

Indeed, merry Christmas one and all , at the moment Lindy and I both have a severe viral infection ,(non covid ) we have booked Xmas lunch at Norton House Hotel, non refundable and cost an arm and a leg , let's hope we are recovered enough by then to attend !

Not long before The Day. I'm being spoilt this year because I have an invitation for Christmas dinner from our lovely LadyGG who, as I've told you before, is a superb cook! I get along really well with her family, so I'll also have some great company, which makes a nice change for me living alone as I do. I can't take poor Hector as he's too old to get in and out of the car and 140 lbs of dog is too much for me to handle with my bad leg.

Not to worry. I've arranged for a neighbour to pop some treats through the letterbox to keep him happy and, of course, LadyGG will see to it that I'll have a substantial doggie bag to take home for him. His sulk will last no more than 30 seconds until his snout gets a sniff of what I've brought him. Then it'll be a heavily wagging tail and a wrestle as I fight him off to get in the door. He loves his food does my Hector!!

Lindy and I are booked into Norton House for Xmas lunch , we are still under the weather with the virus we have contracted and have no sense of taste or smell , this won't stop me enjoying but it won't be the same as if we were in good health .

We are down the M4 in a moment for lunch with my daughter’s family in Bristol. We need to allow plenty of time as I had my Speed Awareness Course on Friday and the lesson is imprinted on my brain.

Reminds me of the tale when a cop with a speed gun waved down a manic youngster who'd been burning the rubber big time.

"Been waiting all day for someone like you to come along," said the cop.

"Well I got here as quick as I could," replied the kid

The grinning cop waved him on.

Well I'm back from chez LadyGG after a brilliant day with a whole lot more than a doggy bag. She did a second dinner film wrapped on a plate with separate containers of roasties, extra veg and gravy etc - in fact the whole shooting match all over again and I don't even have to cook it!! Hector had his head in the carrier bag before I'd hardly crossed the threshhold. He'll get his share though. So, plated dinner and certain veg in the microwave and the roasties, Yorkshire and other veg in the halogen oven. Ten minutes the lot, no prep and hardly any washing up afterwards. Oh, I've got prawns and smoked salmon for starters with Black Forest gateau and double cream for dessert. I'll be as fat as a hog before the new year and I hope you've all been as fortunate as I've been over the holiday. Thank you, LadyGG, the whole day was a gas.
