Laudrups signings.

You have to differentiate between players that Laudrup sought / signed and those that were thrust on him by the "powers that were". Ngog is a classic example of this ... who the fuck signed that guy. Laudrup's players were generally lower cost, higher value than those signed by the "powers".

Michu, Pablo, Chico, De Guzman, Pozuello all made valuable contributions while they were with us and were more than capable of playing Premier League football. I think we'd all have these guys back in a heartbeat.

Shelvey was immature and prone to laziness punctuated with moments of brilliance. His first game against his old club Liverpool was a case in point. Who signed him ... never really seemed like a Laudrup player. Shelvey was shipped out of Liverpool by Rogers ... thanks!?!

Bony ... who was the driving force behind signing him? If I remember correctly HJ almost had a stroke over the price. A player that was dominant in his time with us. Played much better after Laudrup left than while playing for him.

Ki ... now here's a name that will divide the forum. Capable of being exceptional and anonymous. Rarely played in his best position as a #10. Better going forward than defending. Not sure if Ki was a Laudrup signing or done by the "powers".

Most of the other players on the list were signed by / for the academy - e.g. Zabaret, King, Hanley and so on. I doubt they would have ever been on the Laudrup radar. They just happened to come to the club during Laudrup's tenure.

Let's not forget Canas as well. Okay, he was a bit hit and miss early doors but started to improve as he got used to the demands of the Premier League. Given more time I think he would have developed into the type of destructive/combative midfielder that every team needs.
