Like others who've contacted me regarding LadyGG's whereabouts, I too have missed her input on here. But there's good reason for it. At the best of times she has her hands full with the family business, but particularly since she almost lost her hubby to a massive heart attack a little while ago. This illness prevented him from playing as active a part in the business as he once did, so the load fell on GG who, in addition, still has to run the family home and tend an aging parent with all that that entails.

Of course the Covid crisis has only exacerbated her problems given that she is also heavily involved with local charities. I am in regular contact with her via telephone and texts and I received the following text recently regarding the 'Grub Club' that she founded to look after elderly, single and vulnerable folk in the area to ensure that they are fed properly and don't lack support. The text reads:

Huge pleasure this week to prepare and serve our Saturday Grub Club's St David's Day Feast. Using locally sourced ingredients for our traditional cawl, locally baked crusty rolls, home-made Teisen Lap and the amazing effort of Lucie Rees Sudbury's mum Michelle Rees providing HUNDREDS of welshcakes.

In all, we served over 105 meals to our diners and raised money for a childrens' charity. As usual I got a bit carried away with the portions, so Lucie and I took the surplus along to our NHS heroes in the Singleton Assessment Unit for a special and well deserved treat - and they were tickled pink.

I think this was a FB entry that she copied to me. I should also point out that LadyGG and her team also deliver cooked meals to those unfortunates who cannot leave home for health reasons. I can only congratulate and thank her and her helpers for their sterling work in helping her local community. 👏👏👏
