FA cup Brentford

The ultimate football forecaster Lawro has us down for a draw, and to lose on penalties, I think we'll get through this 3-1, besides, Newport are going to need some Welsh company in the 6th round.
Routs should start for this one, he had a great game in our 3-2 win over them. But Potter must be ultra cautious and not allow them to be over confident as when we were 3-0 up against them only to allow them back into the game at 3-2 and them then hitting the woodwork a few times.

Any repeat of our woeful performance against Leeds (some of their fans saying it was their easiest game this season) will see us lose against a slick Brentford side who have found some impressive form recently. We need a decent cup run to find some confidence and give the fans something to cheer about because we are already done with the league. The money won't hurt either but God knows where that will end up. Think we all know the answer to that though.

I'm getting concerned about the character and attitude of our team. Do they have the guts and the fight to go with their talent? Beginning to doubt it to be honest but it would be good to see the lads play with a sense of urgency on Sunday and look like they want to win the game. If they do this I can see a 2-1 win but, if they don't, Brentford are easily good enough to see us off.

If Macshite starts I'll have a massive hissy fit.
Narsingh must start in front of macshite or assoro.
Could not understand why he left CBR on the bench against Leeds , when we were crying out for someone to hold up the ball and run the channels. Macshite gave up possession too easily and never put any pressure on their center halves.
I know potter is playing with a short deck but some of his selections baffle me , such as our best midfielder moved to full back !

Possibly the back room problems are starting to reflect on the pitch, If Potter isn't happy with the board, and I'd be pretty sure he isn't, then it unknowingly becomes a squad problem as he's the link between upstairs and the dressing room.

There are a lot of games between now and the end of the season. Another injury or two and the likes of Asoro will become starters .... at that point we’ll start to sink and pojnts will become scarce. We traded out quality and our depth in January. The cupboard is bare. Narsingh is appearing because it’s all Potter has left and Narsingh, for whatever stupid reason, was considered a last resort. Narsingh now has to shake off rust and get up to match fitness ... Narsingh has to start matches like this to become any use.

It is so sad to watch how Brentfort are giving us a footballing lesson in passing, pressing, shooting, attacking and counter-attacking at our home turf.

Dan James, what a player ! (y)(y)(y)

Potter should forget 4-3-3 we played in the first half, it doesn't suit us. And James must play on the left flank and Celina as attacking midfielder behind the striker.

Watched the game with our lovely @Ladygargar and was pretty down with our first half performance. We were second best with everything and I could only see a Brentford win despite LadyGG hollering in my ear that we were going to win. She was right!

Fortunately it was the proverbial game of two halves and whatever Potter said during the break obviously worked. Dan James played like a man possessed and his blinding pace turned the game for us. Celina and Byers chipped in with good performances and some goals as well, which made up for Oli having a bad one - not his fault as he must have still been feeling the effects of his illness. Ever the trier though.

Thought Naughton and Grimes had reasonable games overall as well but Dan was THE man today and showed what raw pace can do. I expect his full back will be having nightmares for weeks after this and their entire defence seemed to have a blind panic every time he ran at them. The club must do whatever it takes to keep him but I suspect that Leeds won't be the only suitors after today's effort.

Now if only Potts can tighten that defence of ours. I almost shit myself more than once when we faffed around at the back and on another day, Brentford might have grabbed another goal or two. Never mind, we're in the draw for the next round with a 4 goal win that might well have been 5. I shall be watching that poxy decision very closely tonight! :)

WHAT A GAME! LOVED EVERY MINUTE - even the first half I had no fear that this was going to be our day - lots of mistakes lots of missed strokes but you’d expect that - they must never stop trying the clever flicks and passes - they don’t always come off, sometimes they cost us but OH MY GIDDY AUNT when they do - it’s poetry or is it Pottery? Not sure but I pray we get to keep this manager and the bulk of his team as they could really be very special :love::love::love::love:

Deffo a deserved win on that second half showing and nothing can convince me that Connor's goal wasn't valid, so it was 5-1 really. Dan James came into his own today and deserved his MOM award. And George Byers is growing into his role as well. Love it that he likes to take a shot from distance and a few more should try and do the same. Well taken goal by him, just passing the ball into the net and showing a composure that most strikers would be proud of. Keep playing him, Potts, because he's only going to get better as his confidence grows. Some stats:

Possession: 54-46 Shots: 11-19 OT: 6-3 Corners: 2-5 Fouls: 7-7 GOALS: 4-1 I'll say that again, 4-1 and it SHOULD have been 5!!!!

This was a good Brentford team and, like pundit Kevin Kilbane, I could only see them winning at half time. So it speaks volumes for the way that Potts and the lads turned things around second half. Well done them.

Definitely not. I am sure the really big guns will come and ask for Dan's signature in the summer transfer window. Goalscoring wingers who can pass the ball and have such pace are extremely important in modern football. And if we base our style of play on high pressing and counter-attacking, Dan will be scoring many goals for us. With growing confidence he will improve decision-making and goalscoring rate.

Hmmmm! I think you called that one slightly wrong Lawro :D:D
Hardly a word on BBC Sport about our win, but just about devoted the whole page to the one he got right. Premiership Wolves beating Championship Bristol C. 0-1.

As on fire as James was in the second half, the one moment that speaks to me loudest was Byers' goal. Byers will be player of the season. Every game he is doing things that are having an impact. Little touches here and there or goals like yesterday's and with every game his presence grows. Along with Grimes and Celina we have three players with very high technical ability, vision and mobility, but Byers can surpass them all.

Is Dan James quick? Bamboozled Bees boss Thomas Frank was forced to admit - "we made a big mistake giving the ball to the only player in the country who should NOT be given the ball 30 yards into his own half." True!! :)

Dan is so quick that if a pork chop had been dangled from the crossbar, he might well have beaten Hector to it. Mind you, I'd have to back my dog in this kind of race because if it was a close run thing, with a chop at stake and if Hector sensed he was losing, he'd just flatten Dan. Loves a chop does my chocolate mutt.
