F1 Grand Prix Season

So we go to Belgium with wet weather possible. A track where wet weather and track has reined carnage in the past. A 7 km track, with two long straights that will show who the fastest cars really are.

One of the comms reckons that Ferrari might be stretched to make the final 10 in qualifying.

PS: As predicted Ferrari failed to get in the top 10. Rain is predicted and that looks the only hope for the rest as Hamilton looked a class apart in qualifying. Worrying times for Ferrari. Their cars are not quick enough and fast track Monza is up next.

Wet weather will sort the drivers out.

Ferrari ... after the FIA sorted out their cheating last season ... are not a threat to anybody this season. Pedigree is showing as Racing Point has stepped it up a "gear" with their Mercedes power plant.

Sainz has just parked his car back in the pits and walked away .... far away. His race is cooked before they even line up

They've got BIG problems. Hamilton on pole as I type. Norris 6th but it could all change with 5 minutes left.

That was a crazy race. Gasly from Sainz and Strohl.

Hamilton penalized to last pace cuts through the pack to finish 7th. Bottas only managed 5th. Are cars and drivers really that different at Mercedes.

Been reading lots of comments online about how boring F1 is with complaints galore about Hamilton and Mercedes. Totally disagree! If other teams and drivers want to start winning then stop whining and get better! The rules and conditions are the same for everyone. Perhaps Hamilton should be made to start at the back of the grid every race to give the other poor souls a chance. Pathetic!!

Although I only saw some of the race which caused me to miss the reason Hamilton was penalised, I read that it would have been much easier to have pushed the broken down car BACK some few metres into a gap rather than move it a far greater distance down the pit lane. This caused the foul up that cost Hamilton apparently. Still, demoting Lewis to last place at least gave the other drivers a chance to win for a change.

PS: Yes, I'm a Lewis Hamilton fan. He's BRITISH and he's a WINNER!

They closed the pit lane and the Alpha Romeo driver and Hamilton both drove through two signs that indicated the closure to box. Up to that point Hamilton was racing by himself so far out in front it makes a mockery of it all. Still, happy for the second tier to get some joy. Bottas needs to figure out why he / car can’t keep up during a race despite being just thousands behind in qualifying.

Think it has to be the cars, when you look back a few seasons Hamilton and Vettel used to be nip and tuck.

I was thinking about the difference between Hamilton and Bottas. It doesn't make much sense that in qualifying both drivers are nip and tuck. On Sat, there was just 0.069 seconds separating them. During a race ... Bottas just can't stay with Hamilton, even when he starts well, and as it showed today, Bottas has little to no edge over other teams.

Don't think Ferrari /Fiat will be to happy with their F1 cars performances, especially being their home circuit, results like this could have a huge bearing on the sales of their road cars, which is a huge slice of their income.

I agree Yankee, Think in this case it may well be Bottas, he does tend to blow hot & cold, nowhere near Hamiltons consistency.
Be sorry to see the Williams family leave F1, though I believe the team name Williams remains, a very successful team in the Mansell days, I remember Frank Williams saying "Anyone who sits in my car will b a World Champion". Quite a strong boast, but he was proven right the next season when Damion Hill went on to be World Champion with Williams.

I wonder whether it is more that Bottas generally starts behind Hamilton (even if by a meagre .069 seconds) and the Mercedes perform significantly worse in the dirty air (Hamilton encountered some of this when he was making his way through the field yesterday). I think they have designed a car at Mercedes that presumes it will be in the lead!

A good point and if that is the case then Bottas has to up his game in qualifying to oust Hamilton from pole.
