Dyer and other matters

According to the Sun it seems that Dyer's proposed move to Reading broke down because he couldn't agree a payment with the Swans. Meantime, they report that Rangers are considering a loan deal for him.

The same article also states that we are in a surprise bid to loan Real Madrid B striker Dani Gomez. We'll see what happens in the next few days. No doubt we'll read that Jenkins was disappointed that Real rejected his offer of ten bob a week payable six months in arrears.

We don’t have the greatest sales pitch to a loan striker (unless Bony is leaving) but I am hopeful we will get one in on Friday! I’m more optimistic we get a loan striker than a midfielder.

Why would the Dyer deal break down because "he" (I presume Dyer) couldn't agree a payment with the Swans. Why would "he" need to pay the Swans.

Sorry, I worded it wrongly in my rush. Dyer expects payment FROM the Swans is how I interpreted it.

I posted on another thread ... for Dyer and Narsingh not to be selected ahead of McKay and Asoro, McKay in particular, meant that something totally shit was going on. Potter must be under orders not to select them Or the players are holding out.

The interesting question is: when all these financial matters are unresolved and on Sept 1 we have Routs, Dyer and Narsingh on the books ... do they apply themselves, get picked and played, or sulk and start a rot.

We have a cup tie on Tuesday. Some of the kids are wilting under the strain or not showing enough mettle to face the challenge. What do we do with these seniors.

I think the Yanks will get rid of Dyer, Routs and Narsingh before September 1.

The wages of these three players are £100.000 a week all together, almost £5m on annual basis. Bony will probably be offloaded in January, that's another £5m cut in wages.

Not sure if you can open/believe this - it’s an alleged text conversation between a fan and Dineen it scrolls through quite fast but you can stop it by pressing pause - anyhow upshot according to this is Narsingh doesn't want to stay, him & his agent will say anything to cut the best deal and Dineen has done his best by the club; blah blah blah etc :sick:etc etc

Dumping the players by releasing does not make the cost go away. If anything it accelerates it. There would have to be a negotiated settlement of contract, which the players do not have to participate in. They are registered (or should be) and under contract. They don't have to agree to a release without full settlement of the contract. To settle for less than the full amount due, would if it were me, required early payment of the net amount.

It is probably in our best interest to keep the players on the books until January, play the shit out of them, and then seek to move them on during that window .... or if we're in the hunt for promotion keep them around. Let's face it McKay needs to grow a pair, Asoro needs about 20 pounds of muscle, and they both need to learn. For better or worse I have to believe that Dyer could be every bit as effective in the wide role on the right with Montero on the left.
