Declan John to Sunderland

Sent out on loan to Sunderland.

Like Peterson, John has never had a proper run of games. Now we have only Bidwell at left full-back position. I don't understand the thinking behind this decision.

Borja moving to Villa. Not horrible business if we can get some money for a player who isn't playing and contract is up in 6 months.

Agree about John though he never ever impressed me or showed glimpses of being good enough. Looked okay as a winger but a bit like Tabanou; liability whenever he played.

Does the Borja move now open the door for Cullen to enter the first team squad.

Having lost Peterson, we now have Dyer, Routs, McKay, Kalulu to play in forward positions. I'm underwhelmed with that list.

Unless Cullen is truly considered the better option to Borja then moving Borja out is tantamount to quitting on promotion.

It's been suggested that we have money lined up to buy someone if Borja is sold but that's probably too late now in this window. I could see Cullen getting bench minutes if Borja is sold. Honestly it's not a bad situation is Borja is sold, he's played next to nothing since September and hasn't had a goal in that time either. Getting his wages off the book finally will help the club down the road and hopefully open the door for Cullen or another U23 to make the step up permanent.

Borja is going on a free, just freeing up his wages, Declan John loaned to Sunderland and McKay dropping to Div1 Fleetwood, with those wages saved possibly funds available to bring in the target Cooper was hinting at in his presser yesterday, but it will be a close to deadline signing if it's done.

How many more 19 year olds are left. Doesn't Andy Pandy have all his toys already. He doesn't properly use the ones he has. Such a great coach ... Brewster, Ayew and Borja and Kalulu and Peterson and McKay and he can't come up with any combination that offers any glimmer of hope of scoring goals.

FFS we need a left-back asap.
While we don't have a stellar or a dedicated left back we do have Bidwell (far from stellar), Naughton (quite serviceable) and Guehi (yet to see how well he can play there). I'm okay for us to struggle through to season's end with those options and a lowered wage bill. Quite the last minute flurry of players going out tonight. I'm not unhappy with the transfer window - some good arrivals and a lot of dross (and their wages) offloaded. Well done Cooper, Leon and Birch.

Capitulation. .

Instead of driving for promotion the Club has capitulated. Andy Pandy has been given a few toys he thinks he knows how to play with, but in truth has less of a clue than a two year old with a box of LEGO bricks. Has the club done a cost benefit analysis and realized that spending money to reinforce the squad would be a waste of money because Andy Pandy wouldn’t be able to use them. Is the thinking ... “We can’t afford to fire him, but we’re not going to plough money into wasteful ineptitude”. Perhaps Britton, Curtis and Birch have done that analysis and decided not to commit, but prune, and save money for next season. Perhaps we will see Andy Pandy terminated at the end of the season when his payout will be less.

For all practical purposes the season is over. Our one goal now is not to be relegated. Such is the quality of the league that with a minimal squad and Ivor’s statue picking the team ... i.e, the players basically sorting it out themselves ... we can avoid being relegated.

Why should we pay money at the turnstiles to watch this, to be a part of capitulation. The Club has called it a day ... hell I can find plenty of things to do with my time than watch a team play 25% of a match and stumble and bumble its way to the end of the season.

3 loans in and 9 players out ! Would have been nice to sign someone permanently but hey ho what more can we expect from the Wanks in charge ?
Good to see us getting rid of some of the dross but we are going to need to do significant business in the summer window if we are to seriously try to get back to the premier next season, and yes I have given up hope of promotion this year !

I'm cautiously optimistic that we might yet do something this season as the new signings plus Ayew, who thankfully is still with us, just might gel and do something good. Of course it's a long shot but the potential is definitely there: it just needs to be used properly. And there's the rub. Cooper really does need to get his act together but it's not entirely inconceivable that he won't. Things have a habit of suddenly clicking into place in football, a sort of eureka moment but I appreciate that our chance might well have gone this season. Btw, sorry to see Borja gone as I don't think he ever had a proper chance with us and he certainly was rarely used properly. And young Harries as well. I thought he had promise but obviously he couldn't have shown up well in training.

Please, no. Our permanent signings in the past 4-5 years have been a waste of money. See the post #14. I'm not going to discuss now the resons why the most of our permanent signings have flopped, but it's a fact that they've flopped.

I'd rather promote the kids from our academy and develop them.

The questions are ..... having watched this play out .... (1j will the likes of Roberts stick around or mobilize for a move out; (2) who would come here to be coached by Andy Pandy.

(1). Our squad is now thin of any playable experience ... Routs and Dyer are about to collapse ... and Ayew will leave at season’s end. We will then be woefully thin going into next season, especially since the core of the squad are loaners.

(2) seems to me that this club is developing a reputation as the place where careers go to die. Once we attracted players because of philosophy, style and managers ... now we have AP who couldn’t coach a dog to piss on a lamppost ... and no style whatsoever .... stringing passes together is now a chore. The only players we attract are those that can’t get a game anywhere else.
