Deadline Day

Starting a deadline day thread with it being 48 hours away. I love that there’s 2 different deadline days in the summer window as it requires our recruiting department to work 3 of the 365 days of the year now. Some things I’ve seen today:

Alan Nixon claims Fulton is not only staying but signing a new contract.

Nixon also says our loan attempts for Real Madrid youth striker Dani Gomez have failed.

Reports in Scotland claim we are holding talks with currently unattached defensive midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu.

Not much out there regarding any outgoing.

Mulumbu ( if fit ) is the experienced hard nosed DM we've been looking for. If its only this season till we can recruit better he can do a good job for us , he had a good few years in the prem with west brom and always impressed against us.

Some reports out there that we are willing to sell Bony to Galatasaray for somewhere around £2 million.
Even though he doesn’t want to go......if he wants to stay that much maybe he’ll negotiate a pay-cut?

It’s a bit of a farce isn’t it?

Having said that though Tyler Reid gave a very good account of himself last night and is about two foot taller and wider than wilfy..... candidate for the lump up the front award? Gets my vote (y)

Fucking INSANE if we do that!!!
Absolutely insane. If we kept him until January it would cost us 4 months of his big wages (which i estimate at roughly £1.2 mil, it’s not exact science). Let’s say he gets fit, gets some playing time, scores a few goals and is healthy and match fit on January 1. We could easily get more than £5 mil for him, depending on how desperate a club we can find, maybe even something like £8 mil. I get that Fede and Clucas probably weren’t going to play their way to much higher values than £6 mil, but surely they have to understand that Bony is at rock bottom value right now and it’s probably worth the £1.2 million to attempt to raise his transfer worth. Not to meantion it could help us a good bit on the pitch for the next few months.

Agreed' @LittlePuma , sadly, the name of the game is operating costs. If Dineen is to be believed, the board are obsessed with having a positive cash flow, almost on a weekly basis.

Not heard any talk of that out here. Also with his Stirling (pound) wage demand and the present state of the Turkish Lira they'd be paying him almost double than they would have been a few months back. Can't see that happening. Also they have Gomis scoring for a pastime.

Well built lad for sure. But he's not a giant. Seen his height listed at 1.76m to 1.8m - 5ft 10"ish or less. Isn't his bro on our books as well?

That's also a huge risk. It was risky enough picking up Bony a second time when he hadn't played first team football in about 2 years after sitting on the Mancs' bench. Now, add another year or year and a half to that, the injury, his additional age, and it seems like an enormous risk again not worth taking. What if he played a couple matches and then got injured again? You literally couldn't give him away if that happened. At some point you have to look at Bony as a sunk cost and just pull the plug.

That’s fair, but I think it’s a risk worth taking.
