The German World Series at Cologne is proving interesting. Gary Anderson, RVB and MVG all dumped in the first round by German opposition. MVG was 5-1 up and contrived to lose 5-6. Some excellent German players coming through as darts takes off there.

Been watching the World Grand Prix of darts from Dublin and MVG was awesome again. He had a couple of months of bad form but he's back with a bang. The pace of his throwing is incredible, hardly seeming to take aim at times. In one leg he hit 3 triple 19s immediately followed by 3 triple 18s!!! The guy is just phenomenal....... when he doesn't get bored! :)

Gerwyn Price just blew Peter Wright off the board winning the Grand Slam of darts 16-6 to retain the title he won last year. And that after beating MVG 16-12 !! At 7-5 Price was averaging 112 and ended up at 106+. Great effort and he now moves up to #2 in the world. Well done to him.

WOL contradicted the info given by the Sky commentators. Seems that Gerwyn's average was 107.86, the second highest average in the final of the competition and he's now actually ranked third in the world. Great improvement by him and I notice that his cover shots on trip 19 have vastly improved which have helped a great deal.

Fallon Sherrock is amazing!! She beat Ted Evetts (very good young player on the up) in the last round of the World Championship and tonight she beat seeded Mensur Sulovic by 3 sets to 1. She only missed 5 doubles all night whilst he missed 16. It was an incredible performance by Fallon whose finishing doubles were superb but poor old Mensur was mercilessly barracked and booed by the crowd on every shot he took. He was well beaten but that couldn't have helped and the officials didn't call for good order once that I heard. Not at all happy about that but huge congratulations to Fallon. Brilliant stuff!! And great for womens' darts as well. PS: And she finished the match with a Bull !! :)

Some great darts in the World Championship and Gerwyn Price is in tomorrow's final having beaten Steve Bunting 6-4 in a game that saw a record number of ton plus finishes. If Price wins the final he will move to #1 in the world. He will play either Dave Chisnall or Gary Anderson, which game has already been played but I don't know who won.

it will be Price v Anderson, Chizzy was poor putting many first darts into 1 rather than 20 . Not a great semi but I'm looking forward to the final today.

Well done Gezza, the first Welsh world champion of 2021 beating Gary 7-3 in the final. Seen clips of Price playing rugby as a hooker. Tell you what, had he stayed in rugby he'd have been a class player. He was as strong as an ox, technically very sound in the scrum with a very accurate lineout throw (as you might expect!!). Thing is, he was very, very quick sometimes scoring tries from his own half and outpacing the opposing backs, which is a hell of a thing for a hooker to do. Talented sportsman.

Fantastic darts, great scoring and phenomenal finishing , at one stage he had hit 14 out of 14 darts at double top.
He tightened up in last 2 sets under the pressure of winning the world championship and becoming no.1 in the ratings but Anderson , who threw well couldn't stay near him , in one set his average was 136.64, with finishes of 12 , 10 (missed double 12 for 9 darter ) and 11 dart outs.
Great character and I hope he can maintain his position as world no. 1.
First Welsh winner since Leighton Rees .

Ritchie Burnett and Mark Webster have also won the title at Lakeside since Leighton.

Got to say well done to Welshman Jonny Clayton for winning the World Masters darts title last night. What a performance! He beat a resurgent Mervyn King who was in red hot form having knocked out Gerwyn 10-9 in the semis. This was no fluke as Jonny had three 10-9 wins on the way often trailing badly in the games before surging to a win with some brilliant scores. In one game his finishing % was 91, which is almost unheard of and I believe his tournament average was 104+. Some performance.

On his route to the title Jonny beat MVG, James Wade and Peter Wright so he did it the hard way and bear in mind that, unlike many of the top darters, Jonny is a part time player as he works as a plasterer for the local council. That might have to change though as, in addition to the 60 grand prize money he won, he earned a bonus invitation to play in the Premier League competition. The Big Time at last and very well deserved.

Jonny Clayton flying the flag for Wales again!! In the Premier League (Price missed out through Covid) he just beat de Sousa 7-3 and de Sousa averaged 108.48! Jonny averaged 105+ and they reckoned he averaged over 140 in the last 3 games including a brilliant 9 darter. His finishing doubles were also lethal at 78%. Well done, Jonny, keep it up. As he says, he's enjoying it and playing with a smile on his face. Beats plastering for a living, eh? :)

Fantastic performance again from Tumble's Jonny Clayton in winning dart's PREMIER LEAGUE at his first attempt. I've been watching the league all season and Jonny only qualified as he won his place as a bonus for winning the Masters title recently. He's still part time as he works for the local council as a plasterer. When he was presented with the winner's cheque for £250k he said, now it's back to work on Monday - guess he means Tuesday!

He beat the in form van den Berg to squeeze in as the 4th and last qualifier for the knock out semi-final session tonight then proceeded to beat Michael van Gerwen 10-8 before disposing of de Sousa 11-5 in the final. Great effort from Jonny. But just think - the losing finalist was guaranteed £120k, so effectively they were playing for £130k in that last game! No wonder the players let nerves get the better of them at times. Beats the hell out of the ten bob a game I used to play for on a Saturday night at the Toby and Salty bars on Mumbles pier. Anyone remember them?

Anyway, that's the PREMIER LEAGUE title in the bank for one of our own, so I'm hoping the Swans can emulate that by at least earning their Premier League place tomorrow. I've seen worse omens! :)

At least some Welsh good news from the Nordic Masters. Jonny Clayton just mullered Peter 'Snakebite' Wright by 10-3. I recorded it and watched whilst listening to the Swans and posting on here. Who says men can't multi-task? Wright had a nightmare on his doubles missing 18 of 21 for a 14% return. Jonny got 50%, averaged 103.87 and plays in the semi tonight.

Fair play to Peter Wright. At the end, he ignored Jonny's fist pump and pretended to try and strangle him! :ROFLMAO: Great fun and great sportsmanship.
